Tournaments

Every year at Gen Con—and also at shows like GaryCon and Origins—Goodman Games sponsors some of the most popular RPG tournaments in the industry. Our Dungeon Crawl Classics tournament at Gen Con has been running steadily since 2004 and routinely sells out within 24 hours. In the past, we have also sponsored formal, competitive Xcrawl tournaments. Winners of these tournaments receive trophies, prizes, and recognition in our published adventure modules. And in recent years, they have been immortalized by commemorative plaques on our Gong of Doom.

Tournament Winners

Over the years we have run many tournaments and crowned many winners. And we want everyone to know those names! Take a moment to see all the winners from prior years!

Judges

Our tournaments are made possible by the brave men and women who step into the line of fire, running competitive dungeon crawls in a pressure-cooker environment. It takes nerves of steel to be a tournament DM when the fame and glory of your players is on the line. If you think you’ve got what it takes, e-mail us for more info.

The Gong of Doom

The tournaments at Gen Con have a particular aspect that has become very popular with our fans. Namely, we speak of The Gong of Doom! Every time someone dies in a tournament they have to walk to the front of the room and ring the gong, symbolizing the gods taking back their soul. The sound echoes through the hall and into the very firmament of the heavens themselves! Then, the winners of each Team Tournament are added to the pillars of The Doom Gong, memorializing them for all eternity. And if you would like more info on the creation of the Gong, just click on this link.
