Level Up
So....let's hear more about this.......
Re: Level Up
I'd love to hear about this as well. I just happened across mention of this on the Enworld forums.

Re: Level Up
I'll let Aeryn brag about it, but Level Up is set to be a really exciting publication. Short adventures, monster entries, reviews, world material --- pretty much everything a gaming publication ought to be.
The first issue has been in the works for a little while now, but Aeryn is already hard at work on #2.

Re: Level Up
Hi all,
To start, I'll post a snippet from my editorial in issue one. I think it sums up what Level Up is all about:
Welcome to the first issue of Level Up, a quarterly magazine devoted to Fourth Edition Dungeons & Dragons. That’s right; you read that correctly. I said devoted – as in solely committed – to Fourth Edition Dungeons & Dragons. I can’t be any more forward or frank than that. This magazine is all about providing you with top-quality 4E material written by both industry professionals and talented freelancers.
What I posted above is the basic idea behind the magazine, but I'd be happy to expand on this, and answer what questions I can here.

Also, I haven't listened to it yet, but Ogre Cave has a podcast segment on the announcement:

Re: Level Up
Will Level Up be distributed through regular magazine channels? Will we see it on the racks at Barnes & Noble or other bookstores?

Eventually, but not at first. This is intended to give fans a reason to visit their game stores.mythfish wrote:Will Level Up be distributed through regular magazine channels? Will we see it on the racks at Barnes & Noble or other bookstores?

Re: Level Up
Fortunately for me my LGS, that is 54 miles away, has a "pull list", so I can have him pull it for me and pick it up the one time or so I go to that town each month. Hopefully the April issue will be out and available before April, since I typically go into town during the first few days of each month. If not I'll just have to wait until May to pick it up.
Castles and Crusades is my game of choice!

This is awesome! Thanks for this GG.
Re: Level Up
One burning question I have: Will there be a way for freelancers to query Level Up!
Thanks!

Re: Level Up
Absolutely. Here's how you submit.sgstyrsky wrote:One burning question I have: Will there be a way for freelancers to query Level Up!
Thanks!
On the 13th day of the 13th month, when the moon hangs high and red in the night sky, a query written in the blood of one hundred kittens may be submitted to the great and terrible editor of Level Up. Queries submitted in the blood of creatures other than kittens, or pertaining to the Edition That Shall Not Be Named, will provoke swift madness and awful retribution. However, should your query be accepted, a proxy of the Great Old Editor shall visit you and demand your soul…uh, I mean manuscript, which must be written in the blood of one thousand kittens on a desecrated page of the 3.5 Players handbook.
Currently, the above is the only way to submit a query to Level Up. However, we are in the process of creating a slightly more user-friendly set of submission guidelines, which will be posted soon.

Just make sure to keep the "desecrated page of the 3.5 Players handbook" bit

Is the subscription print and PDF? Just as the PDF? What?

Re: Level Up
Subscription is just print. Until we can offer a PDF+print option to retail stores as well, we're keeping the playing field level. But that's not too far away...

Hello everyone. Long time lurker on these forums and first time poster.
And all I got to say is this is sooooo awesome! I already subscribed and can't wait to get my grubby paws on this magazine!

I'm quite excited to have one more reason to head to my local shop (Guardian Games, yet another GG). I often find myself there more often than needed, but w/o any actual items to purchase. Looking forward to this magazine immensely. I expect GREAT things, and you never disappoint.

Re: Level Up
While I love the easy access of internet content, I have a great tenderness for printed things I can hold in my hands. Bravo for deciding to produce an honest-to-goodness paper magazine in this day and age!
