Primeval Groves
I want to thank the authors of PG for a great guide to an under represented creature type. I think that the material is well thought out and interesting.
However I would like to whip the editors 50 times with a wet noodle for all the errors they let in- pages worth. Cut off sentences, repeated or partial sentences, the chart for the Xylomancer is replaced with the one for the Explorer, the Xylomancer class information is repeated almost entirely, and an undead creature has a CON score. I also find some of the art work to be questionable since they represent creatures that are PI to another company (the Sov Stone pieces).
If I were to review it at rpg.net, I would give it a 5 for substance and 3 for style. I like the book and will find it useful. And I hope that Lurkers Among Us will be as good (and edited better). Thank you.

Yeah, I think what might have happened was the layout used a pre-final draft but those run on sentences shouldn't have been in there and I know that because I can see them now so I'm not sure how they made it but next time we'll catch it or something but I'm glad you still like the material because there are some cool ideas even though there are mistakes and run on sentences and stuff.
Thanks for the kind words, and I am sorry for the editing errors. Just to let you know, though, those images are not PI from Sovereign Press. I, as the illustrator according to my contract with Sov Press, own the rights to them and can print them as I wish. Most of the ones in question were cut from The Bestiary of Loerem and not previosuly printed.

You guys are very welcome- you did write (and illustrate) a top notch book.
Mr. Hopp- I was just suprised to see a Bahk (sp?) in PG.
Mr. Troman- I hope to see your name in future books.
And Mr. Goodman- thanks for producing a excellent line of rpg books (sappy but true).
I just have one request- that the missing xylomancer information be put on the GG website (and I think there is more than just the chart). I want to really compare it with the 2 arcane plant loving classes from AEG's Wilds. I think that I will mix and match the class abilities from all 3 to get a PrC for my Oathbound campaign. I know that the Explorer PrC is going to be an option for my players as are a bunch of other material from PG.

Have a few other credits out there... Did the Undercity for Thunderheads Bluffside City book with a few additional other bits.. just got Pantheon & Pagan faiths out for MEG, mostly the Pagan stuff and a few magazine articles for Gameing Frontiers and the like..DMH wrote: Mr. Troman- I hope to see your name in future books.
This is my only credit of Goodman Games, but I hope not my last..
Thanks

I've been meaning to put together a nifty errata sheet, all pretty like, but I haven't had a chance. So, in the meantime, here's the most obvious missing piece -- the correct Xylomancer class table. More to come...
The Xylomancer
Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special Spells
1 +1 +2 +0 +2 Nature Sense, Woodland Stride +1 level
2 +2 +3 +0 +3 Mother Earth Affinity –
3 +3 +3 +1 +3 +1 level
4 +4 +4 +1 +4 Live through the Land +1 level
5 +5 +4 +1 +4 +1 level
6 +6 +5 +2 +5 Woodland Brother +1 level
7 +7 +5 +2 +5 +1 level
8 +8 +6 +2 +6 Woodland Father +1 level
9 +9 +6 +3 +6 +1 level
10 +10 +7 +3 +7 Woodland Guardian +1 level
The Xylomancer
Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special Spells
1 +1 +2 +0 +2 Nature Sense, Woodland Stride +1 level
2 +2 +3 +0 +3 Mother Earth Affinity –
3 +3 +3 +1 +3 +1 level
4 +4 +4 +1 +4 Live through the Land +1 level
5 +5 +4 +1 +4 +1 level
6 +6 +5 +2 +5 Woodland Brother +1 level
7 +7 +5 +2 +5 +1 level
8 +8 +6 +2 +6 Woodland Father +1 level
9 +9 +6 +3 +6 +1 level
10 +10 +7 +3 +7 Woodland Guardian +1 level

Well, I just spent all this time getting the spacing right and look -- it doesn't display properly. So, instead, I have uploaded a quick Word doc to my server. The following link downloads the correct class tables for Primeval Groves:
http://www.goodman-games.com/downloads/ ... tables.doc
As I mentioned above, it's not a formal document, just a quick fix so you have the info.

Just wanted to follow up -- the Primeval Groves errata is now available for download:

Gaaahhh!DMH wrote:I was reading over the errata (thanks again for that), and found just one thing missing- the back inside cover has all the monsters on page 18. I reread it to find if there was anything else missing and I could not find one.
How embarrassing! I specifically checked that page, too, after noticing the table of contents in the front.

Sorry about the delay. You might want to add the errata link to the main page for PG.

I started this thread:

so that people can ask about the book and I hope that you will provide answers when the people who have it (myself and others) don't know the answer.
I also hope the thread will dispel some myths about the problems with the book.

That possibility is now in the hands of 3AM Games, who took over the Wanderers Guild line a couple months ago:

Recently, I picked up all the Wanderer's Guild Guides (Endless Dark, Boundless Blue, Primeval Groves) at a sell-out from my favourite online shop dirt cheap. And I would like to thank you for putting out such great and unusual sourcebooks. All of them were received very favourably! It's an enjoyable read!!
The lucky guy who gets to translate DCCs into German!

Re: Primeval Groves
Goodman Games published Primeval Groves, but the rights are held by the creators. As far as I know they have not released it in PDF form.
