This one is really just a bit of curiosity.
3.x has the d20 SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/). Pathfinder RPG has the PRD (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/).
Are there any plans afoot to publish a "DRD" to allow the publication of compatible, but non-official, supplements?
It might be fun if such a document were published, but I am sure there are several reasons why Joseph might not want to do it.

Re: DCC Reference Document
I'm thinking that it would be nice to actually get the game released first.
Seriously, I've tried to put together something based on what has been posted here so far, and it's really tricky because rules seem to be so fluid at the moment.
As far as an official reference doccument goes, I guess only Joseph knows what his long-term plans are for the game. I know that he seems open to 3rd party groups building and expanding on the game, but I'm not sure he's said exactly what form this will take and what guidelines will be in place.

Re: DCC Reference Document
If you have that compiled into a document, I'd love to see it. I've been wanting to run a playtest with my group, but I'm 900 miles away from the nearest con and besides that, I'm lazy.

Re: DCC Reference Document
The problem is trying to determine what parts of the 3E SRD go in there as well. What I have isn't very useful as an actual playtest doc.

Re: DCC Reference Document
Also interesting is if there will be a "Logo" compatibility license for 3pp (Is it 3rd party pubs or 4th at this point?
)
As for it being or not being in GG's best interest to encourage 3pps, I can't see how extra material would not be beneficial to their product line. People always like new character options and magic. Heck, his compatibility license could forbid adventures (being GG's core strength) if that were a concern. That would be an ironic reversal of the original intent of the OGL as WotC originally assumed most 3pps would just make adventures for D&D3.
@finarvyn, I don't think the OP was asking for a DCCRD right now, taking time away from the game's development. He just wanted to know if GG plans to make it available for 3rd party products.

Absolutely. As I'm sure you all have inferred, the rules are intentionally lean. This is ample room for 3pp offerings.jmucchiello wrote:That would be an ironic reversal of the original intent of the OGL as WotC originally assumed most 3pps would just make adventures for D&D3.

I realize that the game needs to be finished first. There has been lots of talk about 3PP, I was just wondering if much thought has gone into how those products are going to be handled yet. I am not asking Joseph and Harley to put the cart before the horse.

I'm just thinking ahead and trying to imagine how such a doccument could be put together. (I know that many of us would like to see it before the open Beta playtest....finarvyn wrote:I know that he seems open to 3rd party groups building and expanding on the game, but I'm not sure he's said exactly what form this will take and what guidelines will be in place.

Re: DCC Reference Document
I think the DCC RPG rule book will work just fine as the "official reference document." Once it's completed, of course, as has been noted here.
I will probably have some sort of logo for compatible products, but I'll worry more about that a little further down the road.
