RE: Srihoz at GenCon? Well, maybe...any takers?

Post by toper »

Greetings.

I recently asked Joseph about running DCC#25, The Dread Crypt of Srihoz at GenCon, but sadly all the tables for the DCCs are already booked so no go on that as a planned event.

However, if we can find a table I'd like to see if anyone's interested in getting a rousing run-through the vampire's funhouse? Let me know. I'm gonna be there at least on Saturday, perhaps Friday too.

A run through with the master himself? Heck yeah. There has to be a free table someplace in Indy.

Dread Crypt at Gen Con?

Post by tacojohn4547 »

Well, I've got a pretty tight schedule for Friday, and Saturday afternoon through evening is also full. But if you were to run a Saturday morning game, I'd be "in"for a few hours of fun. And I would literally jump at the chance to game with Harley!

IIRC, we're signed up for a short seminar before lunch (Arneson & Bledslow), and then I'm off to run Iron Crypt of the Heretics (in First Edition), another awesome DCC by Harley Stroh!

But, if Saturday morning is a possibility, that would rock!

Thanks for offering.

saturday morning

Post by toper »

Glad to hear some positive feedback on this notion.

Saturday morning...oh boy, if I can wake up from MY crypt and make it on time. Actually though, I have a confession to make. I don't think I would make the best D20 Dungeon Master. I needed help with DCC 25, as far as stat blocks and "D20-fying" it. I truly am old school in that sense. I'm learning more about the 3e system, but I think a more competent rules DM would be best in the rarified air of GenCon. Would either of you guys be interested? I'd just like to watch, as it would hardly be fair for me to play! Or perhaps not....mwah ha ha ha!

I don't know my entire schedule yet, but if time permits, I'd love to run the game. I'm still waiting to hear from that other gaming company; that may make a serious dent in my schedule.

But, man, I'd love to run the game, in a sort of no-holds-barred dungeon crawl. A late night, after-hours DCC death match.

DCC Underground: the first rule about DCCU is that there is no DCCU. ;)

Let me see if I can't get some of the maps made up.

Don't stretch yourself too thin, Harley! I can already envision you doing like Scooby Doo in the opening theme when he splits himself four different directions at once, connected only by his tail. I know you'd game all four days straight without sleep, but let yourself be functional.

True words. We'll see how it breaks down. I'm still a little frightened about Beer Con.

But it occured to me that maybe you're just trying to escape from the grudge match. I will GM for you yet, LaSala. ;)

BTW, I'm SO buying you a sombrero and a Mexican wrestling mask for your GenCon superhero costume.

Not sure you want me as a player, Stroh. I'll have character backstory to read out that'll leave your head spinning and too little time for the dungeoncrawling slaughterhouse you so crave!

Whatever could you be referring to?

LATE NIGHT SOMBREROS AND VAMPIRES IN PONCHOS

Post by toper »

How many chalupas would it take to placate the Aboleth from Hell? Enough of that T-Bell might cause sufficient permanent damage to skirt past that encounter.

In all seriousness, a late-nite DCCU will happen (NOT happen) anywhere (nowhere) at any time (at no time), and to any who would be PCs, let me just say that I'll be a part of this and if the party makes it through without at least losing one or two players, then the DM hasn't run it right...and watch out fellas (and ladies?), I don't think Harley's gonna make many mistakes.

Unless, of course, you're bunch of epic-level cheaters...

Snark snark.
