Sailors on the Starless Sea - (Holy cow! They killed...)

...the Chaos Leviathan!

While traveling across the Starless Sea on the magical dragon boat, our heroes were attacked by the Leviathan. Our newly-minted wizard cast his first "Enlarge" spell with 20 points of spellburn, targeting the Dwarf PC, and got a 32+ result. The Dwarf grew 100 feet tall, got 100 HP, and +10 to attack, damage, and AC. (this does, however, sink the dragon ship.) The world's largest dwarf waded into the water and beat the tar out if the Leviathan. And of course, the dwarf's first attack was a natural 20. Just totally savaged the poor elder monster.

I was stunned. I have never been so gobsmacked as a GM. It was unreal.

I loved every minute.

On the plus side, that Wizard is going to have such a headache in the morning...

The wizard actually zeroed-out enough stats that he passed out. That made things exciting when the boat sank and there was a mad scramble to keep him from drowning. Even with the thrashing of Leviathan, it was still an exciting encounter with PCs trying to swim for shore, strip out of armor (not all of them made it), or climb onto the dwarf's shoulders.
