Turing the Village of Hirot into the Village of Hommlet?

Post by MrHemlocks »

I am presently running the Doom of the Savage Kings and my players were talking about making the village (Hirot) their own...after cleaning up the bad guys. Any of you old timers remember the Village of Hommlet from TSR? It was the games first village and a place that players could call home. Now I was thinking and came to the conclusion that Hirot could serve the same purpose as Hommlet did. I would use this village as a place that the players can rest up after adventures and as a spring board to further adventures.

Are there any adventures, premade, that take place near the village of Hirot? If not I am sure I could make a few of link them to other adventures.

I just bought the pdfs of Dungeon Crawl Classics #35: Gazetteer of the Known Realms, and Castle Whiterock, also considering getting Saga of the Dragon Cult, and have plenty of room for adventures!

Any ideas?

You can easily put the Appendix N Adventures Toolkit modules near Hirot:

WOW! Those look promising! Did you ever use any of those battlemaps that are sold for those adventures?

There are twelve short encounter/adventures that you could place near Hirot --

<horn toot> Try In the Prison of the Squid Sorcerer.

Mermaids of Yuggoth -- whereby the adventurers acquire a small house as a base of operations and then realize its "haunted" over a period of several weeks....

The Long Sleep -- whereby the adventurers are drawn to investigate why the local gravedigger has disappeared... low level...

Slaves of the Visitants -- whereby the adventurers discover a cairn where creatures from another dimension are trying to take hold... </horn toot>

In addition to the Appendix N Toolkit, there are the Purple Sorcerer adventures -- just need a nearby swamp. There's also three short adventures from Purple Duck that are great for a "next steps" adventuring (<further horn toot>One of them is mine...</further horn toot>

I found that Doom meshed right into Sailors on the Starless Sea and People of the Pit -- my players based themselves in Hirot for both of these adventures.
