Re: GaryCon 2013
Jim posted this under another thread:
also Sniderman's blog on Gary Con:

I played games with both of the those guys as well as a Gamma World Game with Michael Curtis in which my pure strain human was killed by a radioactive slurpee. I also played with James Caprio in a Tales from the Fallen Empire game. I recall witches and serpent men. There was also a decent amount of The Red Dragon Inn, Card/Board Game from Slugfest Games that I happen to have all the current expansions for due to the fact I did some work on it. It fits well between games when folks only have an hour or two to spare.
here is my communication with Joe post con regarding the games I DM'ed:
JG: How was Gary Con?
DK: I ran a couple random city DCC adventures.
One time everyone died by necromancer while trying to rob a whore house. The other time a fu manchu style wizard played by James Caprio turned a dwarf into the incredible hulk in order to murder the mayor. That second one got pretty surreal.
JG: Fu Manchu, dwarves, incredible hulk, mayor? Was that game under sober conditions or not? =)
DK: that second more surreal one was actually Sunday morning so it was the more sober for me at least but I was pretty tired at that point. I'd guess the players were pretty sober too.
Mike broke down in town with Tim Kask Sat night . So I took over his Night On the Town Game, when all his players started asking me where he was. I'm curious to see what Night on the Town is actually about.
I ran a "You have come to the city to do crimes" game. It might have been Punjar, might have been Lahnkmar, or possibly Chicago in the middle ages.... imagine.
I made a bunch of "DM trumps" cards before the con and the players drew a couple cards from a deck at the beginning of the game. It wasn't a game for kids. The deck contained random contacts, events, gangs , items, contraband, prostitutes, and specific people like Ratface slipshot's sister , Rafena. So the players had some control over the story and I occasionally let a player Dm for a bit. I allowed them to pick a crime they would be committing as a goal and then set a time interval to the game so there would be a climax in the end. The game would probably never be the same twice, .....we can play something like it eventually.....maybe in Texas.... Harley?
