Turn Unholy

Post by Lizard7718 »

Trying to get a firmer handle on the rules and I came across this...

Turn Unholy p. 30

It reads that the check is made using a d20 + Caster Level + Personality Modifier = Check

But on p. 96 it says you add in the Luck Bonus to that calculation. I'm going to assume that luck should be added in but just wanting confirmation.

I have another question or two about how the turn ability works but starting with this one. Thanks in advance.

I believe that is because Clerics add their Luck modifier to all Turn attempts.

I get that, it was in one part it says to add the luck bonus, in the cleric description it didn't mention luck. So just double checking.

Got the game last Saturday and I have been absorbing it. Showed it to the group and 2 of them said they would get the pdf (I know one did, not sure about the other) so who knows, might have a game of DCC starting up in the nearish future. Gotta get a firmer handle on the rules.

Next question. In the example of turn unholy on pg. 96 it is set up as, a turn attempt with a check of 24 rolled against four 1hd skeletons and one 4hd vampire. His result is a 5 so the cleric can turn 5 targets, which would be the vampire and the 4 skellies. Now let's add in a 2hd zombie. That is 6 total targets with 5 being affected. The vampire was the main focus so it would be affected leaving four targets that can be turned. Personally I would leave it up to the cleric to decide which 4 targets are affected (the zombie and 3 of the remaining skellies OR all 4 skeletons). As freeflow as the system is and how much it trusts judges to make decisions I figure what ever the judge decides is the way to go, but just to be sure, was there an intended way to handle this? once the main target is turned, the next highest HD target gets turned, then the next ect. Or reverse that, once the main target is turned, the lowest hd monster/s are turned and then work your way up.
