Didn't preorder, but got Doom of The Savage Kings free...

Post by bluekabuto »

Howdy Folks -

As mentioned in the subject line - I DIDN'T preorder the DCC, but instead ordered it from an online retailer last week. The book arrived yesterday - IT'S HUGE BTW! and immediately I noticed it wasn't put together quite right. I was just about to complain, but then noticed #66.5 Doom of The Savage Kings tucked away inside the cover!

Was this on purpose? I thought you could only get DOSK if you preordered? Either way, I am immensely satisfied. It was a very unexpected treat! ^_^

Thanks Joe! I'll tell Steve over at TLG about it, I am sure he'll get a good belly laugh...

My understanding is that the entire first-print run had the module inside. All of the copies that I've seen in the game stores have them.

My assumption is that when the first print-run is done that later printings won't have this extra, but I haven't seen anything official from Joseph on the subject.

That's my take, as well. In addition, maybe the store orders counted as pre-orders, since they would have been made a month ago.

That's possibly true. I know that "brick and mortor" preorders were supposed to be counted the same as going direct through Goodman Games, and several posters here chose that route to support local game stores.

If the game store also ordered copies early it would be counted the same.

From what I understand, all LE books come with the module, plus the first 1000 pre-orders of the normal books. Game stores pre-order stuff all the time, which would explain why there are so many DotSK being found. All the copies at my FLGS had one.

All pre-orders included the free module, whether the pre-order was placed directly through Goodman Games or through retailers/distributors (who can also place pre-orders). Most of the first wave of orders in stores have the free module. I ended up printing more than 1,000 based on the strength of pre-orders. However, that's not the full print run, and restocks by those retailers probably won't include the free module (since the copies we're shipping now don't have the free module). So act now if you want one. :)

And Brian - thanks for the order. Make sure Steve reads page 430. ;)
