Dundjinni and Dungeon Crawl Classics

Post by superfan »

Hello,

Just curious....Has anyone been using Dundjinni to map out any of the Dungeon Crawl Classics? I plan to run these for my group at some point, and can't say enough about the Dundjinni mapping program (www.dundjinni.com for demo and screenshots). I was hoping someone had already mapped out some rooms so that I could "snag" them and save some time. I am 9 rooms into mapping Crypt of the Devil Lich (that tore me a new one at GenCon by the way) and would be happy to share my .dja files with anyone interested.

Stay well, and thanks again to Joe and the fine staff at Goodman games. Super stuff says the Superfan.

Uploaded pics on the Dundjinni website for preview

Post by superfan »

Hello from the Superfan,

If anyone wants to preview some of my rooms from Crypt of the Devil Lich, they are at www.dundjinni.com in FORUM and then MAPS. I have uploaded the final room of Level 1, and the Torture Room from Level 2. Hope you like them, and let me know if you would like the .dja files for the remaining rooms of the module. I'd be happy to share!

Stay well!

I haven't used Dundjinni myself, but would it help if we provided JPEGs of the maps? I'm fine with doing that if it makes this task easier!

Dear Joe,

Just to confirm then....Is it ok to post my Dundjinni imaginings of your Devil Lich rooms on their public boards? I give credit to Goodman games and mention the module it's from. Since the maps in the module are not very detailed, my maps look VERY different (see www.dundjinni.com and go to Forums and then Maps to see 2 different rooms).

I don't want to ruffle any feathers, and want to do the right thing. I think I lose the moniker of Superfan if I piss you and the company off!

Thanks again for great inspiration and a great module!

Hey all,

FYI, I've got about half of the Crypt of the Devil Lich module mapped out with Dundjinni and posted on their website at www.dundjinni.com in the Forums area, under Maps. I hope people find it useful. I'm going to print out all the maps and use them as battleboards to speed up play, and encourage smarter play. I know with some of the tricky room designs, I sometimes didn't understand how I was getting smacked around. A picture says a thousand words.

Enjoy

From the small bit I've played with Dundjinni, the jpegs wouldn't help. A cartographer builds the maps up from tile sets and object placements, and I don't think there is a conversion tool. (Although, my experience is 6 months dated.)

Superfan: these maps are fantastic! (And represent a lot of work and time invested... Very cool.) Could you post a list of rooms that you've mapped, maybe with links? Are you intending to do the entire module, and have you run your players through this yet?

Also, the post prefix "DL" doesn't scream Devil Lich. I mistook them for Dragonlance maps when I went searching the forums. :):):)

Hello, and thanks for the compliment on the maps!

I will be running my players through the module in 3 weeks, and will have every major room mapped out. I will bring the bmp files burned on disk to Kinko's and have them printed in laser color goodness for at 1 inch = 5 feet battleboard size. I then will put a thin piece of plexiglass over the top so that I can write on it with water soluble inks.

So far I've posted all the maps on the forum area of dundjinni under maps.

the link is www.dundjinni.com and then click on forum, then maps. Don't let players see them prematurely, as there may be hints on solutions to problems.

Rooms available so far.... EVERY room of the first and second levels, including the large caven entrance. I also have a map of the Elevator of doom pre......you know.....and post.....you know.

The files are quite large as bmp files....about 20 mb apiece. I could email them to goodman games so that they could post them for download...most likely after zipping and compressing them.

I'm not sure if the lower quality jpg files retain the same ability to be printed and retain the 1 inch=5 foot scale. If they can, I can send you a Jpg of whatever file size you like (by resizing the image in photoshop) to make for easier downloads.

I will be away from my aol email for a few days without access at the Ramada, but feel free to post any requests or comments on this board where I'm sure to see it!

Thanks,
Ben "superfan" Waxman

And, like I said, I would be more than happy to do the maps for other DCC's if people are interested.

That is SO painfully cool! Can I play in your game? Huh, huh, can I? ;)

Dear Harley,

You are more than welcome to join me if you are in or near the Twin Cities area in Minnesota.

I've only got 4 players, and of course the module has more than that. I've got some doubling up....less fun than having more players.

Let me know!

Superfan, you rock ... and live up to your name!

Sadly I'm presently in Colorado. However, if I'm ever in your part of the world, or if we cross paths at a future Gen Con, remind me to get your autograph... :D

Dear Harley,

You are too kind, and make me blush like a schoolgirl.

If you are running any DCC's and wish me to Dundjinni any maps for you (or if others would like specific maps for their players), please let me know. I have all the modules, and it's no problem. I can then email you the bmp which you print yourself, or do the Kinkos thing like I will

Appreciate the kind words, and let me know if I can help. Happy to!

:Boggle.: Wow. Right now I'm just stoked to check out the Devil Lich maps, and with your permission, I'd like to use them in an up-coming session.

What module(s) are you planning on running next?

Hey Harley,

I'm actually going back to being a player after Devil Lich, as my DM wants to put us through the highest level module of 2nd Ed. D&D, "The Throne of Bloodstone."

Yeah! We get to meet Orcus, and either kick his tail, or die a hideous death!

But, as I have all the DCC's, YOU tell me what YOU would like to run next Harley, and I'll Dudjinni it for you.

My treat for your kind comments!

Just let me know, and I'll start it after finishing Devil Lich.

And of course, feel free to use my maps as you like, and email me at benwax@aol.com if you would like me to email you the large bmp files that will print out in 1inch=5 foot increments for battleboard use.

Take care,

Ben "Superfan" Waxman :)

new rooms for Devil Lich

Post by superfan »

Hey guys and gals,

I've put several more rooms up on the Dundjinni forums at www.dundjinni.com in Forums, then Maps.

The most recent editions are Pain's Forge and The Gold Room.

I hope you enjoy them, and Joe says he will try to post a link on the site sometime soon.

I'm late to this party, but after seeing these images all I can say is: WOW! Those are AWESOME. This definitely raises the bar. Every D&D game would be a lot better with maps like this!

I'll update the Free Materials section with links to your posts in a couple weeks, once I get through a few other web updates. In the meantime... WOW. Did I mention WOW? Wow. :)

Hey Joe!

Thanks for the kind words! :D :D

I'm finally done! The final encounter with the Devil lich in her crypt is posted!

www.dundjinni.com, then forums, then maps.

Now it's off to kinko's with a handfull of cash! It's battleboard time!

Again, any requests from other DCC's, please let me know. My next project will likely be DCC #0.

Superfan!

Sorry for the month+ delay, as there is a module I was hoping you would map out when it becomes available:

http://goodman-games.com/5016preview.php

If I buy you a copy will you map the dungeon portion for me?

Dear Harley,

I would be more than happy to map that out for you, and will mail you a disk of my maps to boot, if you'll pick up the module for me. Drop me a line at benwax@aol.com and we'll figure it out.

In the meantime, Joe Goodman has given me free reign to map out "Dungeon Interludes".

I'll start working on the maps, and post the previews at www.dundjinni.com in their forums area.

Stay well all!

Hi guys and gals,

I'm new to this board (first post), but I know Superfan pretty well from the Dundjinni forum :D
He has asked some folk at that forum if they were interested in mapping out some DCC modules from Goodman Games ... and I volunteerd (hope I'm not in over my head ... :? ).

I'm currently working on Dundjinni maps for DCC #7: "The Secret of Smuggler's Cove". The Lighthouse is finished and can be viewed at www.dundjinni.com under Maps. The Ruined Landhouse is next ...

The quality of the maps you guys keep putting out just get better and better!! I was really pleased with the maps from DCC 13: Crypt of the Devil Lich (especially for the Entrance, which I designed), but the maps for the Defiled Sanctuary Ben put together for DCC 14 (my first 'solo' project for Goodman Games) are fabulous.

Keep up the good work, guys... You've convinced me to shell out my own money and grab Dunjinni for my home campaign and to help "brainstorm" areas for my upcoming modules.
