Blackmoor in Known Realms

Post by raskal »

I manage a Blackmoor campaign since 2 years. I find the Known Realms very interesting and i would like put the Blackmoor setting inside the world of Known Realmsb but where ?

Any ideas ?

Raskal,

The answer greatly depends on which version of Blackmoor you are using:

1) First Fantasy Campaign from Judges Guild, with 10-mile hexes;

2) DA1 Blackmoor from TSR, with 24-mile hexes;

3) DA1 Blackmoor + DA3 City of the Gods from TSR, with 24-mile hexes and two maps;

4) Zeitgeist Blackmoor, with no hexes and a scale the nature of which escapes me...

Also, how tied are you to:

1) Thonia as described;
2) Skandaharians as described;
3) The Afridhi as described (1-3 as in, range outside of Blackmoor, size of the lands they rule, cultural equivalent, etc.); and
4) The semi-tropical climate as described.

Once we know that, we can make some suggestions as to placement of Blackmoor in the Known Realms...

checked out Raskal's page and it sure looks like he is using DA's Blackmoor aka Zeitgeist's version........

i'd say maybe replace Koranth/Blackfens with Blackmoor ........ the Scourge becomes afridhi (or maybe just the afridhi are part of the scourge) and ye olde Grand Duchy of Leherti = Thonia.

kinda a nice fit now that i look at it. doesn't match the tropical to tundra scope of DA's blackmoor thoug. that's actually the biggest change probably ......... blackmoor becomes a much larger placel.

Yes, my campaign is set in the last incarnanation of Blackmoor launch by Zeitgeist.
For info 1 hex = 12,5 miles

Here's a map I worked up that incorporates Blackmoor, Blackmoor-era Mystara, the Wilderlands, and the Known Realms. The scale isn't quite the same as the Zeitgeist version, but it can be fudged close enough...

This is based on work from Havard Faanes; more of the discussion that led to this map can be found on the Necromancer board and the Mystara board on Wizards.com.
