OOC: Traps? Here? Naaaaaaahhh.
Joseph relays his feelings to the others, knowing that sorcery isn't something to toy with. "I'm getting a strong sense of... of something from that door. Like... what I heard about in stories, fate and destiny and such? Or like... like laws and judges, that feeling you get when you cross yer Pa... law and order itself, something like that, coming right from that door."
Copromancer is intrigued.
Marvin stares down his nose at the door's pretensions, as if his position wasn't authority enough for these peasants...
"Probably another one of those traps, some enchantment working on a weak mind. Where there's enchantment, there may be weapons to use on that slime beast. Authority's glow? Hmmm... likely the treasure store of this demented place. Check the door and see if it's locked! If we have to we'll break the door down and arm ourselves."
Xim takes his roll of cloth out, holding it like a club. "Maybe we can unroll my fabric, and see if this will fit below the door? Run a sheet under it, maybe we can shimmy the lock open and get through?"

Both doors appear to be unlocked.

Joseph, who doesn't think the lawful feeling is a bad one, bravely opens the lawful door. If he dies here, he'll hope to see his faithful hound again; if not, he'll see how he can help stop the monsters in these ruins. With that in mind, he will enter the room.
OOC: Oh, I hope this works out.

Joseph enters the room, and feels a strong sense of safety and calm, as if the evil and corruption pervading these ruins is held at bay, here.
The room is a small living space, 10' x 10', with a simple wooden bed and desk that have defied time and decay.
He is suddenly conscious of what a long day this has been, and that the party is long overdue for a rest. In Joseph's opinion, you will be safe here.
What will he do?
What are the rest of you doing?

Joseph calls in to the others. "It's safe, lads! No monsters as I can see. I think we could rest up here!"
The others peer in, seeing what the big deal is.

OCC: actually, why don't we take this opportunity for everyone to go on the record with what their alignment is....

OOC: Honest John - Lawful, Ned Starch - Neutral, Ken Katcherman - Neutral, Red Robert - Chaotic.

OOC: Alignment? Good question. I was hoping to declare these sorts of things post funnel . . . but I guess now is as good a time as any. Fate has determined that all my Lawful and Neutral PCs have died. Only the two that I originally thought of as Chaotic, Squire Jon and Ragged Rob, have survived. What does that say about the universe?
I have no idea.

Joseph: Lawful
Marvin, Jenkins, Xim: Unaligned
Copromancer: Unaligned, but insane.

Ok. Reassured by Joseph, and seeing no apparent danger in the small room the others slowly file through the door and (I assume) begin preparing to get some rest.
Everyone feels a bit giddy, a sense of calm settling over them, like the feeling one gets sleeping by the fire or that a child gets knowing their parents are in the next room.
Everyone, that is, except Red Robert, Squire John and Ragged Rob, who immediately begin to feel restless... A feeling that evolves quickly into a strong compulsion to leave this room!

Joseph sits down comfortably.
Copromancer notes the others' reactions, and is under the impression that it's strange the group wants to rest in the ruins. He wants to look around the area, see if there are doors here or other features.
"It is strange that we're just going to stop here, isn't it? There are giant spiders, slime creatures, and whatever clawed beast grabbed that dog. Why are we resting?"
OOC: I know we all feel warm and fuzzy, but while Copromancer may not have guessed "law" and "chaos", he would be curious as to why everyone suddenly wants to rest in a frightening dungeon. The others, though, wouldn't have his skepticism (well, Jenkins the Jester would, being trained to look for issues with something as part of his job as a satirist; but maybe that should be roleplayed into?).

OOC: Sorry for the confusion. To clarify, based upon my rough estimate of the passage of time, its been well over 12 hours since you entered the ruins, and probably more since you last slept. And what's happened thus far has been less than relaxing...
So my "time to rest" suggestion was not an order, by any means... just wanted to convey the fatigue everyone is feeling by now, and the lawful and neutral characters' feelings about this room relative to the rest of the dungeon.
So you guys can sleep here, exit the ruins, sleep elsewhere in the ruins, or continue without sleep, but if you do the latter, the characters will suffer a -d1 penalty (lower all die by one type on the chain) on all dice rolls until they have rested...

Squire Jon shakes his head. "I'm not sleeping in here. It's weird. If we want to rest, let's go outside where there aren't monsters trying to kill us."
Ragged Rob looks at Squire Jon and adds, "Yeah!"

Honest John: "I must go in this room now. For sleep."
Ned Starch: "I too must go in this room now. For sleep."
Ken Katcherman: "I too will also go in this room now, in addition, as well. For sleep."
Red Robert: "What the hell is wrong with you idiots, why are you talking like that?"

Squire Jon, Ragged Rob and Red Robert, apparently still in the room despite their protestations about its suitability as a resting place, start to experience a wave of violent nausea along with a body-wide, burning pain...
The others continue to feel quite good in the room indeed.

Squire Jon and Ragged Rob throw themselves violently out of the room and into the hallway.

Almost immediately, the pain subsides and the nausea fades. Yet the exhaustion remains.
Will the three of you truly "go outside" to sleep? You notice that the two rooms on either side of the one you just bolted from seem relatively good shape, yet not so disgustingly... orderly.
What are the characters still in the center room doing now?

Hanging out.
Copromancer is having a look around to see if there's anything to note. magic? Books of lore? Pictures?

Ragged Rob and Squire Jon will try to get in one of the other cells and, if successful, will prepare to bunk down.
[OOC: do we want to set up a watch?]

Red Robert will follow Ragged Rob and Squire Jon. Ken Katcherman, Honest John, and Ned Starch all choose comfortable spots in the room and begin to take a load off.

Nothing in the room besides and old straw mattress on the floor, remarkably preserved. If this was a sleeping quarters, it must have either been that of a very simple sort of individual who eschewed material possessions or whatever else was here was removed long ago.
So you all bunk down, Red Robert, Ragged Rob and Squire Jon in the side room, the rest of you in the other.
The hours pass without incident, perhaps 6-8 of them... it's hard to be sure.
As you awaken, Joseph reveals that he experienced a very strange and vivid dream! An olive-skinned man in white robes appeared to him and beckoned him to "Step through the portal. Make what was done, undone." Honest John, flabbergasted, reveals that he had the EXACT SAME DREAM. No one else reports sharing this experience.
OOC: Everyone who has been injured regains 1 hp... except those in the Lawful room who gain up to 2 hp (not above their max hp however).

Squire Jon shrugs off the talk of shared dreams.
"Let's get moving," he growls and re-enters the hallway. Ragged Rob follows. The two prepare to continue down the hallway they were traveling.

Very well.
After you pass the remaining small cell-like rooms (about 100' of corridor in total), you see a hallway leading to another, larger room on your right... and the corridor continues straight ahead toward the east as well (nothing visible that way yet beyond your torchlight).
Nothing but the silence of death in either direction...
