Any sense that they are sheared?
If not, passing again parallel to the right wall -- does that seem to shear them?

In each case, your blade encounters nothing. The scent of honey and cinnamon is stronger, though.

Maledict patiently waits for someone to tell him what to do.
Brother Sufferus looks to Fred. "Any thoughts on how to proceed?"

"Did the webs touch your skin, Maledict? -- or were they affecting you through armor?"
"Maybe we can insulate ourselves from these webs or whatever they are, and pass by that way..."

So. Yoros starts casting about for whatever is in the room that has a good size to it and could be carried in some fashion -- cabinet doors, those paintings on wood panels, etc. AND looking for ways to cobble them together to make effectively a pair of "tower shields" that could have maybe two people between them as they go down the stairs.
If there is only enough material for one set -- then maybe two can go down, one comes back up and shuttles another person down, and so on...
Unless someone else has a better idea. Or there's not enough stuff to build even one set of such a thing.

There are plenty of panels available, although I do not know what you will use to hold them together?

My understanding is that attaching the panels together is not the intent: we simply need to manually hold two large panels in a V-shape next to each other, such that they extend from ground level all the way over their heads; and two people can walk behind the panels. Then, a single person can walk back up holding both panels.
Maledict has iron spikes that can serve as handles, driving them through the panels. He's also ready to be the one moving up and down with the panels to get everyone beyond the staircase.

Easy enough to do, then.

Exactly. Either "TIE-fighter" style or wedge-style works.
Yoros would like to be first down, to defend the party in case something comes up at us while we're shuttling.
Is it possible to carry the Dwarf's body while journeying down, without too much risk that it will get 'stung'? the filaments may do nothing to a corpse, but still, there's the respect issue...

Difficult question, as you do not know what is doing the "stinging".
What do you do?

Maledict and Yoros go down first. Then Maledict goes back up to get first the dwarf, then the body of the elf. In both cases, we tie them to his back with his rope and Maledict travels with both panels. Finally, Maledict escorts Fred and Sufferus, one by one.
If all goes well, he removes the two spikes from the panels once he's done.
If there's a problem, we stop and consider how we can handle it.

This level below appears to be empty, save dust and a lingering smell of cinnamon and honey. The staircase continues downward.
However, Maledict and Yoros are not even off the stairs before the unseen tendrils return. The panels are enough to protect Maledict, but two unseen tendrils, like thick webs or narrow tentacles, strike Yoros despite his precautions, each doing 2 points of damage, and each requiring a DC 7 Fort save.

"There is something tickling my neck -- yee-ouch!"
Fort saves: 13 & 20.
"Maybe we should tie a rope to the panels and just haul them back up for each use..."
Yoros will remain at the new level, rubbing his neck, and have a look around without venturing far from the stairs.

When Maledict sees Yoros get injured, he throws boths panels to the ground, draws Lily's Blade, and holds it high above his head.
"By all that which is sacred, foul things, you shall not prevent us from reaching the Well of all Wells! Lady Blackrush, help me see these unseen things that would hinder our passage!"
And with that, he lunges forward and strikes at the air in front of himself and Yoros, over and over, in an attemps to slice whatever is standing there into a thousand pieces that will litter the floor and on which he'll gingerly step. (I'll let you tell me if I attack more than once, for now I'll roll a single die, in case it changes anything. I assume my deed is attacking somethign invisible and slicing tendrils or creature or both.)
atk 1d20 +1d6+4 = 20 (she heard me!) + 6 (deed maxed!) + 4 = 30
(More in a second post.)

dam 1d10 +1d6+3: 2 (can't max out every die it seems) + 6 + 3 = 11
crit die 1d20 + 1 = 19 (what can i say...) +1 = 20. Crit result :
20: Blow crushes spinal cord; +3d12 damage and foe must make Fort save (DC 15 + PC level) or permanent paralysis.
3d12 = 10+8+7 = 25 additional damage, for a grand total of 36.
(Best DCC hit ever! I hope there was a creature there, lol.)
(edit: i fractioned my post, since the entire post was not accepted by the server. That's what happens when I roll too good

)

The creature becomes visible with your attack. It’s not quite a bee, and it’s not quite a jellyfish, and it has aspects of an enormous lobster and an octopus. It has thousands of thin tentacles, each of which terminates in a stinger, crustacean-like claws, and, an enormous beaked mouth. It is eight feet in diameter, and its body had floated 15 feet above the floor. The cinnamon and honey scent in this room comes from the creature….but it writhes in its death throes now, tentacles flailing without volition, as it sinks to the floor and grows still.

(Yay, there was something to hit! I was wondering if I had not done the most spectacular air sword (inspired from the air guitar) interpretation of all time

)
Maledict stands before the dead creature. "Thank you, Lady Blackrush, for having thusly inspired my movements", he whispers to his sword. "You may all come down now", he says matter-of-factly. There is no pride in his voice.
Brother Sufferus, with the elf body in tow, walks down the staircase. He looks at the creature, wide-eyed. "What sort of monstrosity is this?" He walks around it, prodding it with the handle of his whip, like a child would a dead body floating in the water. "Truly, this is magnficient."
Sufferus takes a quick look around and, seeing that nothing else appears to be here, "let's move down. Fred, you want to look for traps? (if not:) Maledict, after you."
