Hey! I recognize that avatar!

~ahem~

Depends somewhat on your situation... are the players RPG vets? Newbies? A mix? Launching a campaign? Running a one-shot?

Sailors is pretty universally loved. And Portal certainly has it's fans... I enjoyed Hole in the Sky a lot, having played it recently. And then there's the whole kettle of worms that is running a 1st level adventure as a funnel (which seems to be pretty easy to do, straight up, generally).

'Hound of Hirot' has, so far, been a resounding success with my three players. There are opportunities for roleplaying if any of your players are into that sort of thing, than, say, 'Sailors', which is a straight-up crawl.

Not sure yet. Either vets or a mix.
Launching a campaign? Running a one-shot?
The latter, with hopes of it turning into the former if all goes well.

I've not really been involved in gaming for the past couple of years. This is pretty much just my (slowly) getting back into rolling dice and killing pretend monsters, and seeing how much fun I (and my players) have with it.

My favorites are:

Sailors on the Starless Sea
Perils of the Sunken City
Nebin Pendlebrook's Perilous Pantry
Attack of the Frawgs
The Arwich Grinder (in Crawl #9)

I have not run Hole in the Sky, but hear it is good. I also think Frozen in Time would be a cool funnel with minor modifications, but I have not yet run it that way.

I think it's tradition for new players to start with Sailors on the Starless Sea. I've really come to love running and playing that module.

Thanks man, this is a huge help, I needed something for a small group 2-3 players / 8-12 level-0 characters. I'm looking into Attack of the Frawgs now!

For a small group, Attack of the Frawgs is a good bet.

I've always been a huge fan of Portal as a way to start. Short and sweet and to the point. It also is good at getting players out of the combat-is-everything mode. Ironically, in our home campaign, we did Sailors first, then Portal (we had two waves of people join the game).

In 2018 I ran four funnels at GenCon. Portal, Sailors, Carnival of the Damned, and Escape form the Purple Planet. Portal, by far, was the easiest to run.

Another vote for Attack of the Frawgs. I can be run in like 5 hours if you're running at a con.
