Wizard: Heal-bot par excellence?

So, I just started running a DCC RPG game, and one of the PCs is playing a 1st level Wizard. I had her roll spells randomly, then rolled for Mercurial Magic the first time she cast each spell. One of these combinations has created a bit of a problem:

Detect Magic with Breath of Life.
Breath of life. Casting this spell imbues the caster and those around him with beneficial energies. All within
15’ of the caster (both friend and foe) are healed 1d6 points of damage for every level of the spell (i.e., a level
3 spell heals 3d6 damage).
Since Detect Magic is a cleric spell, the Wizard takes a -2 to her spell check, but it doesn't say the spell is lost on a <12 roll. Which means she can just spam it to heal the party.

Now, a 1 would still be bad, but that's still just a 5% chance, and healing 1d6 to the whole party kind of outweighs this.

Anyone have any ideas? How have other judges handled this?

Treat 2-11 as "Lost. Failure."

See the spell table note for rolls of "1".

I see the results for a "1", but is the lost on 2-11 a house rule, or is it in the book somewhere?

Thanks,

A 50% chance of major corruption on a 1 may be enough to dampen down the enthusiasm after a few of those accumulate.

I say them go crazy with it -- and learn the price...

Nope; just following the general rules for Wizard spells. I didn't have to institute that as a house rule; my players did!

Thanks for the quick help, guys.

I'm inclined to not let the spell be lost, and just let them find out the dire consequences of a "1" on their own. Since this party doesn't have a Cleric, it is kind of amusing to see the healing come at the cost of the Wizard's soul.
