At the moment I am not using any tables. I am just choosing a reaction for the monsters that would seem suitable at the time of the encounter.

I'm having fun killing PCs by the score.
Oh, this is not related to the topic, right?
I'm not using monster reaction tables, I choose what monsters do.

I don't use dice to determine how monsters initially react to the party - ever. Never have.
I also never have the party come across a monster or NPC without me knowing what that creature's current goal is (guarding, foraging, heading down the road to the next village for a pint at a tavern he doesn't owe every copper penny to for his bar tab, etc.) and at least one or two words to describe their attitude/current mood.
With the above info, the creature reacts to sight of the party as fitting - but the party can, if they choose, make the attempt at changing that attitude ("Wait! We aren't enemies, maybe we can chat?" if the creature seems hostile, or even a "Get lost," in response to a friendly greeting from the encountered creature) which I play out in every case except for the absolutely mindless (whether by lack of intelligence or simply a combination of intense rage and racism).
