Appendix O?

If it doesn't fit into a category above, then inscribe it here, O Mighty One...

If this is the case, I would vote against including such an appendix in the DCC RPG rulebook. Make one for the web, maybe, but not in the rulebook.

My rationalle is that DCC is supposed to be a game about Appendix N and a list therein should be "Appendix N style" books, either actual ones from Gygax's list or newer books that really fit the style. Putting in a "these are great but don't fit the style of the game you just purchased" would be really bizarre. Kind of like having a "great SciFi movies" Appendix at the end of a Detective RPG book; while it might be an excellent list it doesn't fit the situation.

Just my two cents.

I completely agree with you finarvyn. Plus, in the spirit of Appendix N, Appendix O should only contain books that inspired the authors (i.e., Goodman, et al.). Thus, it's completely their call.

Oooh... I think I just find myself a new author to follow. Check out this criticism-
Think of a Lord of the Rings where, after stringing you along for thousands of pages, all of the hobbits end up dying of cancer contracted by their proximity to the Ring, Aragorn is revealed to be a buffoonish puppet-king of no honor and false might, and Gandalf no sooner celebrates the defeat of Sauron than he executes a long-held plot to become the new Dark Lord of Middle-earth, and you have some idea of what to expect should you descend into Abercrombie’s jaded literary sewer.
Some good thoughts about modern vs classic fantasy on his blog-

I just started The Blade Itself - really good stuff so far. I've already picked up new methods of torture.

China Mieville - 'Perdido Street Station' - weird and wonderful.
This book is the only one of these I've read and I'd call it better than Lovecraft. But it is in no way Sword and Sorcery.

LOL, I'm reading The Silmarillian for the first time right now and just yesterday got to part dealing with how Saruman fell. So Gandalf becoming twisted the same way would be funny. :)
