Jack Vance is one of my all time favourite authors. While his tales are perhaps the most challenging pieces of fantasy literature I've ever seen, they are among the most satisfying. His baroque style is inimitable and wonderful. His stories are original and amusing. After 96 years, he deserves a peacufel rest in some Overworld we can't reach without inscrutable magic. I'm going to miss him. Farewell, Mr. Vance!

I only recently discovered his books and loved Tales of a Dying Earth. I wish I could have thanked him.

He was a funny and clever writer. He had a unique style and intelligence that really distinguished his writing from any other fantasy writer. RIP Mr Vance.
