I tend to avoid role-playing forums like the plague. Way too much nit-picky vitriol in most of them for my liking.

I lurked here for long enough to realize that people were much more sane than most other boards I've seen.

I can't decide if that's because the board is moderated or because people drawn to old-school gaming tend to be, well, older. Either way, I'm happy for it.

Surprised to see D&D up there since it is fractured into
different Editions. 2nd place couldn't go to the abandoned
4th edition could it?

Why not? I seem to bump into more and more teens and twenty-somethings that play 4th Edition...

I suspect that it's a little of both. I know that we all try hard to keep things civil and productive instead of snippy and critical, but it's hard to decide if it's because Joseph the company owner stops by to post occasionally or if it's because of the demographic of the players of the DCC game.

I know that in many ways much of the DCC philosophy seems to mirror that of OD&D, which tends to attract a crowd willing to discuss and explore rather than nit-pick.

Whatever the reason, I agree that this is a great place to hang out and exchange ideas. :D
