It seems to me it would be easier to explain phantom revenue than to explain the purchase of a phantom product.Coleston the Cavalier wrote:I have been trying to explain to my wife how I am paying our monthly bills selling an empty box that no one has seen.

So, how many will they sell to Mr. Goodman (for his personal use, of course)? Place your bets.

Verily and forsooth, I've been fiddling with DCC and find it refreshing indeed! Also - the box - Old-School Gaming Box with Erol Otus Art! This product is a 9" wide x 12" long x 3" deep, sturdy box (aqueous protective coating) featuring a brand-new, full-color cover by Erol Otus!
I'm a huge fan of the original Arduin Grimoire, particularly the Erol Otus art. Guess what I'm about to buy!

Re: Pre-order special deals??
I don't represent John and BHP, but he posted this on my OD&D boards and I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting some more exposure here. He mentioned his empty box, but this post had an actual picture of the Otis cover!
Old-School Gaming Box with Erol Otus Art!
You asked for it, and here it is!
YOU NEED TWO OF THESE: one to put you favorite OSR material in (or your precious stuff from back-in-the-day) and another to leave in the shrink wrap to admire setting on your gaming shelf.
This product is a 9" wide x 12" long x 3" deep, sturdy box (aqueous protective coating) featuring a brand-new, full-color cover by Erol Otus! That's plenty of room for 2-3 retro-clone hardcovers, soft covers and a few dozen modules.
Today's major rpg publishers don't like to offer boxed sets anymore because they cost too much and are too much trouble to put together. When they do off, they are often very cheap boxes made in China. Hard work doesn't scare this halfling and we are proud to make our game boxes in the USA!
Old-School Gaming Box - $24.95
Shipping costs are: (US) $3.50 for one or $5.00 for two or more (Canada) $5.50 for one, $8.00 for two and $10 for three or more (World-Wide) $5.50 for one, $12.00 for two and $20 for three or more

Re: Pre-order special deals??
I love the box idea! Terrific product idea.
On the subject of DCC RPG pre-orders, I think I already mentioned that there will be a drawing for original art by some of the old-school artists involved in the project. On a similar note, what do you guys think of an exclusive module, available only to those who pre-order? It would be packaged in with the pre-order copies but not available otherwise. Would that tempt you to pre-order?

I love that idea, and yes it would tempt me! Re: Pre-order special deals??
If it's a full, 24-page module with cool cover art like DDC #67 through #74, then I would be tempted. But if it were a little 8-page module with a black-and-white cover, then not so much.goodmangames wrote:[W]hat do you guys think of an exclusive module, available only to those who pre-order? Click here to purchase my five AD&D modules.
Each of these modules is self-contained. No other books are required other than the three AD&D rulebooks (or a similar set of rules if you prefer).
Click here to purchase prints of Luigi Castellani's cover art for these modules.

I'm the same way. As an early pre-order guy, I just sit back with fingers crossed hoping for freebie throw-ins.Ogrepuppy wrote:I love that idea, and yes it would tempt me! Hopefully such a module would sway others to pre-order, however.

Re: Pre-order special deals??
As one of the "hold outs" that haven't placed a pre-order (was thinking of picking it up at DDC in Feb), that just might get me to place a pre-order.goodmangames wrote:On the subject of DCC RPG pre-orders, ...what do you guys think of an exclusive module, available only to those who pre-order? Christmas, with its attendant expenses, is coming; how "pre" does the order need to be?

I've been trying to hold out so I can buy it from my FLGS (they need the sales), but this is making it harder. Any way we can pre-order through a local store?goodmangames wrote:I love the box idea! Terrific product idea.

Yes, any pre-order offer will also be available through brick-and-mortar stores. I always like to make things easy on them. When the final deal is worked out there will be an option to order at our online store, or to download a pre-order form which can be taken to your local retailer.dunbruha wrote:I've been trying to hold out so I can buy it from my FLGS (they need the sales), but this is making it harder. Awesome. I'm looking forward to it. Whenever the form is ready, I'll take it in. He has carried a lot of your products in the past, so I'm hoping it will be easy for him to place the pre-order.goodmangames wrote:Yes, any pre-order offer will also be available through brick-and-mortar stores.
