Getting the word out?

So, I've been driving around to various stores trying to stock up on supplies for when the Beta Rules come out--it looks like gamestation.net is out of D30's, so I'm hoping SOME gaming store has them.

Of course when I ask for D30's (or any other "odd" dice, since I want to have a couple of sets available) they look at me like I'm a freak, and try to sell me novelty dice, like "all in one" or plush dice.

When I explain to them that it's for the new Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG, they look even more confused and mutter something about "I think they did some modules or something..."

So, what's the best way to get my local gaming stores to KNOW about DCC? I'd much rather buy the book and associated modules from them than on-line, but they make it damn hard.

Secondly, does anyone know a good game store in the DC metro area?

Thirdly, what's the best pitch to fellow gamers that you've seen? About a third of my fellow players are interested in DCC from what I've said about it, anouther third are willing to give it a shot, and the rest don't see the need to another fantasy RPG. Any advice on getting them excited about DCC?

:?:

I just ordered one (Precision Dark Smoke Translucent d30, inked in silver) from them last night; it was in stock.

In fact, most (8 of 10) of the GS Precision d30s are in stock. The three Koplow Olympic pearl ones (bronze, silver, gold) are, too.

Print off a copy of the DCC flyer from GaryCon and give it to them?

Try to get a copy of the adventure starter, and when the beta rules are out, try to run some demo games. Advertise it as "The Zero Level Challange" or something like that, and get peopl into the store to play some games. Even if you only get 2 or 3 players, sometimes that can snowball into something bigger if you have alot of people around. Also telling them that they can get the beta rules for free as a pdf from the game's producers will help to attract people that worry about spending money to try out a new game for a while.
