Archaisms and sesquipedalianisms

Post by caveman »

First word in "adomonitions" essay?
"No, that's actually correct."I hight" is an ancient way of introducing yourself, especially if you were a knight or nobleman." -shadewest

hmm... I didn't get that. But I dig the writing style in general. Other especially weird words people have noticed? I checked out "thegn" from the Dwarf section. An archaic spelling of the archaic word thane.

From the description of the shadow in the monster section: "In the hoary depths of the Nine Hells, vengeful lich lords send damnable vassals on mortal errands. Thus born is the shadow: a simple-minded un-dead that materializes in the CREPUSCULAR hours lit by neither sun nor moon."

Crepuscular
1 : of, relating to, or resembling twilight : dim <crepuscular light>
2 : occurring or active during twilight <crepuscular insects> <crepuscular activity>

There are a few other fun ones in there too. I have been a sesquiedalian for many years and decided to indulge a little bit. And wait till you read some of Harley's modules. :)
