Do you own specialty dice (d5, d7, d14, etc)?
If you don't own or use the specialty dice (d5, d7, d14, d18, d24), what method do you use to make those dice rolls?

1,2 = 1
3,4 = 2
5,6 = 3
7,8 = 4
9,10 = 5
For the d7, I would roll a d8 and reroll 8s.
For a d14, I would roll a d8 and a d6. This translates to:
(1,1-3) = 1
(2,1-3) = 2
(3,1-3) = 3
(4,1-3) = 4
(5,1-3) = 5
(6,1-3) = 6
(7,1-3) = 7
(8,1-3) = reroll
(1,4-6) = 8
(2,4-6) = 9
(3,4-6) = 10
(4,4-6) = 11
(5,4-6) = 12
(6,4-6) = 13
(7,4-6) = 14
(8,4-6) = reroll
For a d18 (which is not part of the standard DCC dice), I would roll a d20 and ignore 19s and 20s. Assuming you meant a d16, I would roll a d8 and a d6 to get:
(1,1-3) = 1
(2,1-3) = 2
(3,1-3) = 3
(4,1-3) = 4
(5,1-3) = 5
(6,1-3) = 6
(7,1-3) = 7
(8,1-3) = 8
(1,4-6) = 9
(2,4-6) = 10
(3,4-6) = 11
(4,4-6) = 12
(5,4-6) = 13
(6,4-6) = 14
(7,4-6) = 15
(8,4-6) = 16
For a d24, I would roll a d12 and a d6 similar to what I would do to simulate a d16. If the d6 comes up 1-3, then use the d12 result as-is. If the d6 comes up 4-6, then add 12 to the d12 result.
For a d30, do the same thing with a d10 and a d6. If the d6 comes up 1 or 2, then the d10 result is used as-is. If the d6 is a 3 or 4, then add 10 to the d10 result. If the d6 is a 5 or 6, then add 20 to the d10 result.

I have the dice but I use a d14 with 1-7 twice and a d10 with 1-5 twice since the odd dice roll oddly.

I use the weirder dice shapes. I like a different colour for each so players know to reach for the red one for example if they want a d7 or the purple one if they need a d30. I like the Impact miniatures dice best and have also bought other shapes they make such as d9 d11 d18 etc...I like to use them for subtler steps along the dice chain. Say for a bit of dim lighting...drop that d20 to a d18 etc...They are also great for rolling on tables if certain choices have already gone...fir example...rolling on a d10 table...option 1 has gone...now roll a d9....when the next choice goes...d8 etc...I like it better than having to roll again and again if the same numbers come up.
I think they are really good fun and highly recommend buying some for DCC and other games.
The Gamescience ones are nice too but they don't make as many choices of sidedness.
Those Impact d24s.....roll.....forever! Lol

I have several sets. I like the odd shapes, especially on the d7.

But you can get the Crawler's Companion which has a great funky dice roller built in: http://purplesorcerer.com/crawler.php
Or you can do this: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/vie ... 60&t=15068

Received a set of Zocchi dice the other day in the mail, from Impact Miniatures. Red with white numbering. Only set I cold afford.

Good for you; I only have the Jumbo's because I can't see regular sized dice very well without bins and I like to wear bins as little as possible. That and the satisfying THUD when they hit the tableOakbelly wrote:Received a set of Zocchi dice the other day in the mail, from Impact Miniatures. Red with white numbering. Only set I cold afford.
