DCC 3.5 Haunted Lighthouse question

Post by guslandt »

I finally got my hands on DCC 3.5 Haunted Lighthouse today. :D
I noticed the cover is different from all my other DCCs. All other DCCs have a glossy cover. My 3.5 does not have this glossy cover but a matte one.
Is this how they were made? I guess I'm concerned about a forgery.

It's a byproduct of the printing process. The convention specials are printed using a digital process instead of traditional offset printing. When we did #3.5 digital printing was in its early stages and we couldn't get lamination. Now it's standard, so (for example) #17.5 has lamination just like a "normal" module. (Side note: #20.5 was supposed to have lamination but the printer forgot! So it also has a matte finish.)
