Elven Subraces & Áereth

Hello fellow gamers,

There is little mention (unless I'm over-looking something) in the Áereth box-set (DCC #35) about elven subraces, except in the GM's Guide on page 48, where it lists the favored deities by race. On that table we see the subraces listed, gray, wild, wood, aquatic, and drow.

In reading the section in the Gazetteer about the Elven Nations (starting on page 12), we aren't given any information about elven subraces, just elves in general (except in the entry for Myrwych).

However, the elves associated with each location are described with personalities that DO correspond with specific subraces.

Here's my guess at the elven subraces located in the Elven Nations:

Amn'Crith Forest: high elves
Anseur Forest: gray elves
Blackbriar Wood: high elves
Cairnswild: wood/wild elves
Corsan: gray elves
Mirdar Forest: wild and wood elves
Myrwych Forest: this entry actually lists wild elves

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas?

I go through phases with elven sub-races. Sometimes I love 'em, sometimes I don't ...

For instance when FR introduced "winged elves" I was about ready to puke. Expecially when they are used as a regular character in one of the novel series. (I mean, c'mon, that dude walking around the city has wings. Doesn't anyone notice this sort of thing?)

Ranting aside, I have heard rumors of 2 new elf subraces introduced in the Saga of the Witchqueen. Until I have the tome in hand, the decision will be out on whether they are cool subraces or puke subraces.
