I have a question regarding relative 'strength' of adventures.
Would a 6th level DCC (d20) be suitable for 6th level C&C characters?

Yes I think it would. Be ready to adjust the monsters if need be. I have had no problems using DCCs for C&C and using the levels as shown.
Here's a list of 3.X modules I've ran using C&C and have had no problems:
From Goodman Games: DCC #17, parts of DCC #29, DCC 20.5, DCC #0, and currently DCC #2.
From Necromancer Games: Part of Demons & Devils (Crane's Tower), bits of Tomb of Abysthor, The Wizards Amulet, Set's Daughters, and currently Fane of the Witch King.
Troll Lord Games: The Malady of Kings, Fantastic Adventure, and one other that's name is not coming to mind [edit -- it's Galal's Grave].
From Airweaver Games: the free downloadable adventure Milk Run.
Really I haven't found a problem using the suggested levels. Remember that monsters don't get all the attacks in C&C. Take a look at how different various monsters in the Monsters & Treasures book is from their 3.5 counterparts. That will give you a great idea how to "tone down" the villians if need be.
