Took me so long to go through your registration process, I was hoping that that would be enough time for Goodman Games to have finalised arrangements for The Dying Earth kickstarter.

There have been issues with the forum reg process -- might be all worked out now (at least it seems to be working smoothly so far).

Saw some of the artwork for DCC Dying Earth online at Garycon. Looked great. Kickstarter for boxed set now planned for June, with new player classes, magic spells, monsters and adventures from level 0 upwards. Tried to capture feel and language of the books. Apparently (according to Joseph Goodman) Vance estate very impressed and didnt ask for any changes. Cannot wait.

I’m extremely excited for this, it’s the reason I bought the DCC core rule book and I now think DCC is a darn near perfect RPG.

Watched the Twitch demo last night. I wish I had taken notes, but what I saw looked pretty fun! :D

I guess the kickstart hit its goal in 10 minutes. That's pretty cool! Wish I had realized there was an early-backer deal (same thing at a cheaper price). Oh, well. It's only money. ;)

Given the shipping costs to the UK (around 100% on top of the pledge), think I'll have to wait until it is published through normal retail and hope it's easily available in the UK. In the meantime, does anyone have any views on the previous Dying Earth Roleplaying game from Robin D Laws and Pelgrane Press?

Watching the Twitch about the stretch goals. It was suggested by Maceo13 that "stretch goals" was sort of boring and a better name should be made.

My suggestion was "Goodman's Glorious Gainfulment." :D

Yes. "Stretch Goals" is me touching my toes without bending at the knees.

I owned a copy of the core rulebook and some supplements years ago when it first came out. Never played the thing. In retrospect I think it might have been a good game, but it was perhaps "too Vancian" for me as I couldn't understand it. The rules were written in a style which meant I needed to have a thesaurus handy, which is fun in literature but not as fun in a textbook on how to play a game. :?

Probably a "me thing" but I sold the books without ever playing the game.

The Dying Earth kickstarter does look pretty fab. I'm crossing my fingers that Dying Earth won't write women players & judges out of the rulebook, and will have alternating-gendered pronouns, or at least gender-neutral. Anybody know?

Thanks in advance.

ETA -- looking over the Dying Earth sample in my DCC Day Adventure Pack, it is so encouraging to see that ship-master is female & the language is inclusive. My hopes are high!

For the curious: yes, they are going for inclusive language and elimination of "he" as the default pronoun. :) Hurrah!
