Re: Alignment of Aquil'iya in DcCC #51 - inconsistency
Skiz, Glad to hear you are enjoying it. It was a blast to write and design, but did put my life on hold for almost a year. Last night I got a chance to finally open the pdf and re-read the ring entry. I honestly have no idea where the LG restriction came from. The only thing that has anything to do ...

Re: Alignment of Aquil'iya in DcCC #51 - inconsistency
Skizac, Again, welcome to the forums! I wrote that section of CW back in 2006 and 2007, so I need to review the material and try to recall what my original thinking was. Off the top of my head, the LG entry is a mistake, and it should be N. Based on the nature of the magic item, the LG restriction d...

Re: DMs: How'd You Plan That Great Encounter...?
Gnomeboy, Please post updates on your progress through DCC11. Of all the DCCs I penned, DCC11 is my favorite. I've run it probably half a dozen times, and each time folks fall for pit trap! The best compliment I rec'd was for a special slot run at GAMA a few years ago. A store owner seeked out the D...

Bruchard,
Thank you! That was a wonderful, graphic tale of valor. Your descriptions conjured vivid images of the scenes. I thoght I was at your game table for a time there. You can pen fiction for my adventures anyday.
Well done!
Chris

Burchard,
Do tell about your party's exploits in the windmill (and the rest of the module for that matter)!

Unofficial Year 6.5 GenCon 2010 DCC Team Tournament
OK, so here we go, an “official” announcement for the “ Unofficial 2010 GenCon DCC Team Tournament ”. A few months ago, I learned there would be no official Goodman Games presence at GenCon. That meant no booth, no seminars, and no DCC Team Tourney. Bummed at all of this (but mostly by the last tidb...

Re: DMs: How'd You Plan That Great Encounter...?
DCC Fan, Congrats on the TPK ! That corridor of traps has doomed many PCs. When I wrote that encounter, I never expected it to be such a killer. But time and time again, players fall (literally) into the trap. The only downside: the party gets paranoid and search everything floor, ceiling or corrido...

Fathead (and others),
I hope to make an announcement very shortly regarding an "unofficial" GenCon DCC Team Tourney for 2010. I'm still working on the details-more to follow soon.
But here is a teaser: Chalychia

Re: Castle Whiterock milestone
Yeah, stirge swarms are nasty. I wrote that level, but Mr. Pommier gets credit for designing the swarms. If I recall, he gave me a few options to pick from. Looks like I chose wisely! This is awesome! I enjoy the fact that the NPCs are evolving as the PCs evolve, and the encounters reflect changes f...

Re: Castle Whiterock milestone
Happy B-day to your CW game as well. The list of the dead (and how they got there) was priceless! I'm glad to hear the Delver encounter went well. I enjoyed designing without it having it be just another fight like most of the module. Any more "Bring out your dead" lists from CW out there?...

Re: Scions of Punjar
Jason, Although Harley beat me to it, as author I'd like to add my bit. The original design of the encounter (IIR correctly) had something like 8 skeletons, which was a suitable encounter for 3.5. In the 4E version of the encounter (with a suitable EL), we now have 17 creatures. Big difference. And ...

Ozric, Sure the box says its for levels 1-15, but in reality there is more XP and loot in there for that level range. The reason is simple: We designed some of the levels (and sub-levesl) to be concealed, or difficult to get to. For example, the PCs could easily miss level 5, level 6B, or level 8. P...

Maldroth, Yes, you can leave the dungeon in between adventures. It was actually designed that way, which is why we included the gaz. material on Morrain, and designed the entire city of Cillamar. Cillamar is the closest settlement so it has inns (one central to the plot of the adventure), equipment ...

Lol. Argamae, that is too funny. In honor of Mr. Cook, I originally planned to have a 10x10 room with a single orc guard and a tasty pie somewhere in the upper levels of CW. I just never got around to it. Should I have known pie was going to be such a theme in our post CW discussions, the room would...

I'll try to keep up with this thread, and add to Adrian's comments as needed. Believe it or not, the concept of Castle Whiterock was generated at the same meeting (with Joe Goodman, at an Irish pub in Valdosta, Ga) we laid the foundation for Crypt of the Devil Lich. If I have my dates correct, that ...
