Re: That dice chain

I really enjoy the DCC game rules, but I find the dice chain really annoying. Not only do I think it turns off new potential DCC players, because of the difficulty of getting the dice, but it seems a complex and convoluted system that doesn't seem to even crop up very often. We've played several se...

Lyonesse

Vance's seminal fantasy trilogy Lyonesse bears many similarities to DE stories. Nature of magic, powerful and amoral magicians scheming against each others, powerful genie like sandestins, certain off-handed brutality and roguish characters are practically the same. i am certainly musing about using...

Dying Earth - Turjan or Cugel

those who have read through Vance's DE cycle know that there was a substantial tonal shift from earliest short stories collected in the eponymous collection to latter date Cugel and Rhialto stories. while earliest stories were more "serious" and in the vein of horror latter stories were mo...

Re: Dying Earth

Any guess as to what will make the setting different from other DCC product lines? When I think of Dying Earth, I think of (1) Colorful word use; needing a thesaurus to figure out what Vance is saying (2) Characters wandering through magical situations, similar in vibe to Dumas' "Three Muskete...

It's so weird that the links expire, but it seems to happen time and again.

there are ghouls, ice gnomes and intelligent rats. but i think none of them, with the possible exception of ghouls, are viable as player race.

Re: Earthdawn as a DCC setting?

I was going through boxes in storage and came across some of the rule books for Earthdawn, FASA's 90s take on fantasy RPGs. It struck me that the concept behind Earthdawn would lend itself really well to DCC. For those who haven't played, basically the world was overrun by magical monsters (called ...

Re: When?

on somewhat more serious note - some artless quickstart bundle including character creation specifics for DCCL and some vital rules would be nice for backers. i have been eager to start DCCL campaign as soon as i read about it. now we have two adventures (masks and madhouse) and two supplements (gen...

i think we can expect kickstarter any day now. i am also impatient because i want to, at least, incorporate dccL rule-adjustments into my next campaign but there is no sense in hurrying working peeps. it's craftman's task and not some rude, dredge-work.

Re: When?

Michael Curtis is the lead author and he can probably give more specifics, but I've seen a beta of this and the bulk of the rules, etc, seem to be complete and ready to go so I would speculate that it would be one of those fast kickstarts rather than a slow one. The original plan, I believe, was fo...
