Re: Appendix O?

Though I think the point of Appendix O was not so much to extend Appendix N in terms of "the same flavor" but to extend along the lines of "books that have influenced fantasy roleplaying since Appendix N". Or "books that are good influences" for the same. If this is th...

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?

It's funny that folks have such a strong opinion for a game they have never even seen. Keep in mind theRPGsite, run by RPGPundit is a haven for people banned from other forums and its policy is to allow swearing, invective, etc. There's some great people there, some great stuff posted, but also a l...

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?

Another discussion of this thread on another forum;

I think, as one would expect, there's going to be a lot of criticism based on very incomplete and draft rules. Can't wait for the playtest document to be released.

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?

May I refer you to Oedipussy Rex's comment on the MM example, over on the Dragonsfoot forums; http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=48460 I think he has a good point. Perhaps it's just a matter of raising the minimum results as the magic roll improves. Thus, in his example, the ...

Re: Appendix O?

I didn't expect this to turn into a bibliography in itself, but there are some really interesting leads here. I was mainly trying to seed the idea of an in-joke in the dcc rpg when it comes out, namely having an apparently incongruous appendix called Appendix O. Anyway, of the Bernard Cornwall books...

Re: One ruleset, many settings

The problem I see here is that each of these settings are the intellectual property owned by some individual or organisation. Thus, they will have to be licensed by Goodman Games. Getting an agreement to a license then the cost of that license will impact on profits and that will determine if any se...

Any dcc rpg demo games in the UK in 2011?

"UK" is too short a term to search the forums with, so I don't know if this has been discussed previously or not.

Does anyone know if there will be any dcc rpg demo games in the UK this year?

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?

It all sounds very interesting. The arguments for the Appendix N-simulating effects looks sound and I'm sure will have the desired outcome. However, when I read the example of the mechanics for Magic Missiles, the thoughts that came to me were, "This is just one spell, so is it likely to be a c...

Appendix O?

Random thought (apologies if this has already been noted).

Can we assume the DCC RPG will have an Appendix O (no matter what the alphabetical sequence it falls in)? It seems like poetic justice to me, plus it would be interesting to see what subsequent books have been inspirational.

Re: Warrior mechanics

GnomeBoy OK, that's reassuring. In fact I haven't played D&D since 1e AD&D (I probably played my last game around 1988). Thus, 2e, 3e, 3.5e and 4e have all passed me by. I've never played a game with these new fangled ideas like feats, hindrances, edges, fate points, etc. Thus, I don't have ...

Re: Warrior mechanics

If the overall attack roll hits, AND that d3 is a 3 or better, the warrior can perform a cool stunt declared at moment of attack . We call this a Mighty Deed of Arms. I'd like to know what you mean by this... Assuming I understand it's working correctly from one playtest: You tell the DM what you w...

Re: Will the ethos of new modules differ from old DCCs?

OK, I registered on the forum so I could reply to this thread. I started roleplaying way back when AD&D 1e was published (was that mid-70's?). In fact, it was either not yet available at the time in Australia or we were so young we couldn't afford to buy it (can't remember which). However, what ...
