Why the boost to D8 for the War Hammer

I assume the DCC War Hammer has morphed from the oversized claw hammer of the D&D world to an oversized Lump Hammer hence the change to D8 but does anyone know the reason for that decision?

Well no because that still leaves me with agile PC's retaining an a/c advanage that logic tells me they should not be enjoying

Re: Hi! New member here

Thanks everyone :) We're in the middle of some adventuring in Frog God Games Lost Lands setting, using the Blood & Treasure rules, but when we have a natural "break" in that campaign, I'll throw them into "Sailors". My lot took to it like a duck to water, it was like the fir...

Something about Agility and attacking from behind bothers me

I don't like the fact that there is no advantage attacking someone who is already engaged to their front, from behind unless you are a Thief. I could just rule that nobody gets their Agility modifier but that's clanky because either those with negative modifiers effectively lose nothing in compariso...

Re: Word of Command

I've a question concerning this spell. Isn't too much powerful? You can paralyze (hold) every sentient being that means basically everything from humanoid to slimes, undead or dragon. There is not even need that the target understand the language spoken as it works also on animals So basically it c...

Re: The Low End of the Dice Chain

The dice chain doesn't go any lower than d3 in the rule book, but I calculate punch and kick damage with even lower (imaginary) dice: d2 d1 d1/2 d1/4 d1/8 Punches & kicks cause damage determined by Strength: Strength 3 does d1/8 damage (1 in 8 chance of doing 1 point) Strength 4-5 does d1/4 dam...

Re: Elves, Armor & Weapons.

My Elves use Bronze -1 a/c for armour, -1 die damage for weapons. Bronze costs double the price of iron/steel This does not include blunt weapons (should an Elf be using one; funnel competence or whatever) and I allow arrows and Javelins to do full damage but I don't allow them to be recovered as th...

Re: Cleric's "Unholy Creatures"

Another thing to consider bringing up with your Judge is that "unholy" doesn't necessarily mean "of opposed alignment". It could mean "anything my God hates". From a roleplay standpoint, it stands to reason that your God will help you punish his enemies regardless of t...

Re: How do you convert D&D character class levels to DCC?

I am currently working on comparing the Cleric class from various versions of D&D to DCC Cleric. I am working with AD&D Player's Handbook and AD&D 2e Player's Handbook before I get my copy of 3e from Amazon. I have access to 3.5. Ultimately, I would like to dope out a path from 0 Level ...

Re: How do you convert D&D character class levels to DCC?

I would love to see some folks do conversions of some of the classic modules for DCC purposes at least for those of us who are not as good at converting things on the fly. That's an interesting thought. In an ideal world without copyright issues, wouldn't it be neat to have the old TSR monochrome m...

Re: Minimum luck?

Can I burn luck down to 1? Or is the minimum luck score 3? There are no stat modifiers below 3 so that is probably not what was envisaged. You could do it I guess but absolutely everything that could go wrong will now go wrong to that character and if it was me your stat modifier would be -4 for LU...

I know a few of these have been brought up before in other threads but it can be difficult for newer folks to find said threads to read..... So, put forth before the table a few questions that have come about over the last batch of sessions...... Bonus Spells. Just Wizard, or Wizard AND Elf. That b...

Re: Questions out of idle curiosity for the group think.

Well. on table 1-1, it specifically says personality for clerics on the max spell level section, so if clerics got bonus spells it would mention it as well. As for the wizard spells known, it would appear that this table applies when you are level 1, so it would be 1st level spells that you know wh...

Re: Are wizards too powerful in your campaign?

So to get 30 on a D20+3 (3rd level) with an average roll and lets assume a +1 INT bonus and average Luck etc you would need to spellburn 15 or 16 points just to give you a 50/50 chance of a 30+ for every spell you cast and you would be weaker than a fish for a long time. That's my experience here :...

Re: Are wizards too powerful in your campaign?

In my group of 6 players two are wizards. Both are level 3 and their class seems to be the most powerful in game. Their spells own monsters with no other classes coming close to the wizards damage. I mean with the ability to use Luck, Spellburn, add their level and int modifiers they are getting 20...

I feel like the list is restrictive, and the nature of this campaign are both combined to make a less than optimal situation. Edit: Just taking a loot at the list for each: Law: un-dead, demons, devils, chaotic extraplanar, monsters, chaos primes, chaotic humanoids and dragons Neutral: animals, un-...
