I agree. And it's a nice change of pace as it involve a lot more investigation and roleplay.

Re: My 2nd road crew game (Tower of the Black Pearl session 1)
What a story! Thanks again for the write-up! I have not run this adventure so it's hard to tell what is part of it and what is improv from your part and/or the players but I really like the part where they took the braziers and transformed them into a canoe. Very clever work by the players. Also, it...

Re: DCC #84 PERIL ON THE PURPLE PLANET Reprint
I'm also wishing for a Hardback re-print edition. I got into DCC after the Kickstarter and right before they sold out. :( This was also mentioned on Episode 102: Revenge of the Mailbag! It seems as it would be next on the list but nothing has been officially confirmed by GG. One thing that Judge Jen...

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles
I'll be honest... I was skeptical. But then I read the spell and I can see your point! Thanks for the warning! A few suggestions and comments: 1 - Does it happen that the Wizard loses the spell from time to time? Because on a roll from 2 to 7 (as a 3rd level, 13 int. wizard), it's lost until...

Thanks for sharing!
I always had the impression Doom of the Savage Kings and People of the Pit were twin adventures since their summaries both start with the sacrificing of villagers to appease the beast. Now I see they're completely different. Another adventure that I have to add to my list!

DCC modules that can be adapted to EotE
First off, thank you to the moderators for creating this sub-forum! While we wait for new EotE adventure modules, I wanted to start off a list of ideas for adapting DCC modules to a EotE campaign. Here's one idea I had: *** POSSIBLE SPOILERS *** #66.5 Doom of the Savage Kings : - Replace the Hound b...

Re: Empire of the East books
@BrainSandwhich, you can easily purchase the trilogy (with the title "Empire of the East") brand new in a nice easy to read paperback from Tor books (2010 I believe). To my understanding, a few minor things were edited from the original 3 books but it won't be anything to prevent you from ...

Re: Adjusting dice chain
You mention: Right now, I only have level 1 characters to work with so I don't have experience with higher level characters yet. Have you tried a funnel with 0-level characters? It's a really interesting experiment especially players who are used to D&D. It has so many advantages but the main on...

Re: Adjusting dice chain
No, this is not a case where you would move up or down the dice chain. When a character attacks a monster/NPC, he uses his action die found in his class table. The only time this dice changes is when characters level up or when they are submited to Attack Roll Modifiers found in Table 4-1 (page 78)....

Re: Goodman Games DCC Monster book?
I'm pretty sure that "Critters, Creatures, & Denizens" ( DriveThruRPG or GoodmanGames website ) is the closest you'll get to a Monster Manual. Again, this is 3rd party, but as others said previously, DCC wants you to be creative with monsters, so it's unlikely they will be publishing o...

Re: Saberhagen- Empire of the East DCC RPG
Well I have received my copy of the "Proofreader Edition" of EotE and I'm really happy. I'm only up to page 25 but already I like: the limited character classes/races. the "0-Level Occupation" table. the spell Enervation mechanic. It's not as "colorful" as corruption bu...

Re: Frozen in Time naming ceremony
That's a cool idea! I do something somewhat similar. In funnel games, I tell players to give their characters easy names once they start attacking or doing something. Like Bob, Joey or Kevin. The characters that survive get to add a suffix depending on what they did during the game. For example: Kev...

Re: mighty deed disadvantage
You are correct, there is no disadvantage to declaring a Deed. That being said, I did create a disadvantage when writing https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/147952/Steel-and-Fury-DCC called a Mighty Fumble. Simply put, when you roll a 1 on the Deed die and a 1 on your attack roll something spectac...

Greenwood of the Fey Sovereign (Review)
*** Spoiler alert. *** Here's a little review of the Greenwood of the Fey Sovereign adventure by Studio 9 . Re: Secrets of the World Harvesters - DCC KS- ends 4.4.2019
I backed this Kickstarter and it is super cool! The only issue I have is that, per page 14, " The characters should be residents of the village of Halbrinks, with an emotional attachment to the village and its inhabitants. They should be level 1, having survived a funnel (or freshly generated),...

I backed this and look forward to playing it with Dark Trails RPG. Since I'm from Canada I only backed it at the 6$ level for a PDF copy and will print and bind it locally. Which is fine because it's what I do with all my DCC adventures. Shipping fee is never worth it. I really hope it makes it to s...

Re: Is there a "GDQ" equivalent for DCC?
At first I gave them 4 PCs each (8 total), thinking that they could supplement their numbers as they rescued prisoners, but two were killed in the first encounter and the rest went down in the first big fight against the beastmen. Lesson learned. We threw in more PCs to finish the fight as straggle...

Re: a question about Sailors on the Starless Sea
In theory, the effigy is supposed to be destroyed because the Shaman throws it into the pit, yada, yada, yada and it transform into the Chaos Lord. That being said, all sorts of stuff can happen so it's no surprise that your players ended up with the effigy of the Chaos Lord. To be fair, during my g...
