Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Judges and DCC RPG hosts, I suggest you buy several d3's. The best ones are d6 numbered 1-3 twice, they're ugly, but they're easiest to read. What's so ugly about cubes? Heh, just being facetious. I like my dice weird. My favorite d3 is a natural wood cube, numbered 1-3 twice, half red half green. ...

Re: Classic Modules
Dare I say - very very good news! Now the only issues that I would potentially have with the game is the the total inability to raise stats in-game via level advancement or other natural (non-magical) means. Hackmaster has a method of raising stats that works reasonably well. If this is addressed I...

Re: Classic Modules
"If you didn't need a rule for it in 1974, then you don't need a rule for it now." If that was the case there would be no need to buy a new game. :) DCC RPG has things that the 1974 version didn’t (i.e. luck, the funnel, Mighty Deeds, etc.). I like the things it adds the game (that is why...

I don't know much about paper weight I doubt I'd heard the term "Smythe sewn" before a day or so ago. What I do know is that Goodman Games puts out a quality product, both in terms of writing/artistic quality and the physical item. I trust in Joseph on this! :D I don't know much about pap...

I don't have any specific plans but I am sure I will run the classics with DCC eventually.Thane wrote:I was wondering if anyone here is going to use DCC Rpg to run any old classical adventures like, for example, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Bone Hill, Castle Amber, Tomb of Horrors etc.

Re: DCC and 5e D&D
Another comment by Monte Cooke that has DCC RPG overtones to my mind; We are also experimenting with variations on task resolution. What if, for example, something that used to give you a bonus or a penalty instead modified the dice you roll? A bonus to your attack roll might be the ability to roll...

Congratulations! If he's your first child, welcome to the veeeeery steep learning curve. And goodbye to sleep for....a couple of years. Looks like DCC RPG will get released just in the nick of time. But I've also got to say, that all the clichés will now be seen as true; These will be the b...

Re: More interested in the DCC release in April than D&DN
Now that February is here and there's no DCC to expect, :( , I was thinking. Even though D&D Next is slated for open playtest and there's all that buzz/hype going on, I'm still more interested in getting my DCC Core Rules and the plethora of modules due to come out. At least with DCC, I get a s...

Re: DCC and 5e D&D
I playtested 5e his weekend and I saw influences from all editions and several D&D like games. Interesting. Can you share more information? (I've signed up to be a playtester but as of yet haven't gotten any playtest files. :? ) Sorry I had to sign an NDA. This was the playtest at D&DXP and...

Re: Countdown Thread
The real question is what will be released first DCC RPG or 5th edition D&D? :) Low blow! Low blow! Just to be safe, we'll jump straight to DCC RPG 5E. All I have to do is change the verbiage on the cover and it will start out as 5E. :) DCC RPG 5E: coming in April!! It worked for Hackmaster.

This isn't true. The averages are the same but the higher dice also have higher max (and min) damage. So they aren't equivalent. Ok I shouldn't have said "equivalent" but I think we all know what I was getting at... Yes I did know what you meant. That is why I clarified you post. :)

Re: Stat Increases As Levels Increase
I voted no stat increase but I have my own stat rolling method that is guaranteed to give good stats to begin with and I do not plan to use permanent stat loss (or use it very sparingly). So I really don't need stat increases.

Well I won't say it sounds good to me, but it is definitely understandable and I do appreciate the extra care in producing a quality product. I am really looking forward to this game. I have been waiting for a game like this for some time.

Re: Character Improvement Options
I will be tweaking the DCC RPG to my liking (like I do all RPGs I play). I don't think it is in that bad of shape. There are some really good ideas in this game. Most of my changes will be ignoring some of it to make it even lighter.

Re: Character Improvement Options
While I understand people's desire to play super powered murder machines, there are systems for that (4e). People keep forgetting the "you're no hero" bit. That being said, this game, unfortunately, won't be for everyone. I'm trying to get my 4e group interested, and those that gave playe...
