Re: Luck use and mighty deeds
For what it's worth, I don't allow Luck to be spent to modify the deed die. However, if the warrior rolled a 3 or better on his deed die and missed the attack by rolling low on his action die, I would allow Luck to be spent to increase the action die total. Splitting hairs? Consistent? Wonky? Sure, ...

Re: Frozen in Time = Fantastic sci-fi fun!
Thanks so very much! FIT was a heck of a lot of fun to write and even more fun to playtest. I've had everything from full party wipe outs to groups that utterly triumphed over everything they encountered inside the Ghost Ice. FIT really demonstrates the "swingyness" of DCC and shows that A...

Re: Where is the DCC Crowd heading to in 2013... (Con-wise)
I'll be running DCC RPG this weekend at ConnectiCon in Hartford, CT. On the schedule is Frozen in Time , a playtest of a soon-to-be-announced new adventure, and A Night on the Town , my con-only city crawl/homage to The Warriors. If you're in the area, seats are still available for those games. Deta...

Re: Advice on DCC Campaign - 1st to 2nd level, with Lizard-m
If they're still kicking around the swamp at Level 3, it should be a cinch to throw The Croaking Fane into the mix. It should fit in fine with Gnatdamp and you can start laying the seeds for it now. Rumors of strange doings out where the Froggish Folk dwell and the sinister residents of the village ...

Re: 77.5 Tower Out of Time
Has anyone else run or read Tower of the Stargazer by James Raggi? Am I the only one finding similarities? Don't get me wrong, I only mention it in context of how other Appendix N works carry similar themes to each other while varying in presentation but this module definitely fits into my campaign...

Re: 77.5 Tower Out of Time
There's no Elf amongst the pregens because the adventure is written for six PCs and somebody had to be left out. Also, while the Elf is cool and all, I thought people might get a better idea of how DCC RPG isn't D&D by "forcing" them to experience the Dwarf and Halfling classes if they...

Re: The Sea Queen Escapes
My thinking for including the alterations on fire/ray/electrical attacks was that the water would either partially douse fire, refract rays, or wildly conduct electricity, making those types of spells less effective. If you want to rule that the water impedes the inertia of a force-based magic missi...

Re: The Sea Queen Escapes
That depends on how you want to adjudicate it. If you want to rule that the spell's manifestation makes it vulnerable to the stated rules depending on how it appears (black beam, ray of frost, flaming arrow, etc.), that's your call. Personally, I'd rule that the manifestation is merely cosmetic and ...

Re: So if you had to pick a belt buckle...
The real question is, "How feasible and/or expensive would it be to manufacture these buckles with crimson "gem stones" (read 'plastic') for the eyes?"
Also, do a limited run with concealed blades sheathed in the buckle for when the judge needs to fend off irate players.

The above photo is the reason why it's better to be an artist than a writer. There's no way in heck I could convince anyone that having a book entitled "Nudes" on my shelf is a design-related reference work! Also: "Ride of the Black Eagle" is a go? If that's what I think it is, S...

Doug's taking out all of the band one-by-one as part of a nefarious scheme.

Well, sure: Twenty-six letter might have been good enough for your grandpa, but in this high-paced, "eat or be eaten" world of the 21st century, no less than hundreds (HUNDREDS!) of letters will suffice! :D In all seriousness, no new letters, just new, groovy stuff and artwork to celebrate...

In short, the third printing is 33% larger and contains 8 all new entries detailing tropes that wouldn't fit in the original. Potions, stairs, dragons, and treasure chests are just a few of the new entries. Plus, there's more excellent artwork by artists both new and old. Joseph may have more detail...
