Re: Big Bad Con 2013 - October 4-6

The one surprise I will reveal for the upcoming session is I got a portable record player recently and I will be bringing the album to the session! :P

Re: Big Bad Con 2013 - October 4-6

Awesome! Great to hear, I think there is one slot left in the game (last I checked). Otherwise all of the slots for both sessions have filled up. 8)

Re: DCC protects against railroading … but can it do a sandb

We generally maintain a stable of PCs for characters to pickup in the case their primary PC is incapacitated or unable to make the session. Or, of course , in the event they meet an untimely demise :P

I ran DCC RPG with the Isle of the Unknown Hex Crawl for about 10 months and had a blast.

Re: DCC needs an overland adventure and epic campaign

While you wait for an official DCC setting, I can suggest the following:

1. Isle of the Unknown
2. Qelong
3. Castle Whiterock
4. Carcosa
5. Judges Guild - Wilderlands

Re: PacifiCon - 2013

Well the first session was a hoot! I had taken the time to get all the accoutrements ready for the game and alas I left the pregen printouts at home for the tower out of time. So, instead, I ran it as a funnel :) I allowed the party to level up their survivors before the final encounter with H'lissk...

LOL!

How about a pure nethack pocket dimension? Like a "flatland" variant, but everyone's a character - LITERALLY.
I hope you saw my first set of nethack flavored house rules for DCC in Crawl #7 :P (Roguelike Fountains)

Re: 77.5 Tower Out of Time

I honestly do not see any close similarity between the two, although it has been a while since I read Stargazer. I mean, they both have a tower, and they both make use of astrolonomy (the fantastical science of astrological astronomy), but otherwise, I would say that they are very, very different a...

DCC World Tour 2013 - Define the Buckle

Ok, so I am just about to send in my 5th and 6th DCC RPG World Tour submissions to be run at Big Bad Con and that is definitely exciting... I could run just another game at Big Bad Con to achieve the mighty belt buckle, but no! That is not in the spirit of the game! I have had my sights set on this ...

Re: Contemplating Thief Skills

I think you are treading on rules-centric ground there that defeats some of the abstract simplicity of DCC. :) But, speaking in the d20 jargon referenced, I think all thief abilities are essentially "full round actions" whether they include movement or not.

Re: Swapping Spells on New Level

Actually, I think your wizard's "quest" for additional power is great. I don't think it requires a ruling, the game rules are fine as is and you should "Quest for it". The best option IMO for replacing a spell by questing for it would be Patron Bond. :P

Big Bad Con 2013 - October 4-6

I have submitted two games to be run at Big Bad Con here in Oakland, CA over October 4-6. Once my game is posted I will supply links for World Tour inclusion! http://www.bigbadcon.com/ If you don't know what Big Bad Con is, do yourself a favor and go find out. This is honestly my style of gaming con...
