Re: First game session!
1. I would have the characters roll everything normally but divided by half, if the toughness is exceeded tell them it is knocked out. They are choosing to hold back their hits after all. Descriptive choice of hitting w/the flats of the blade or something. Maybe not allow bows unless they specifica...

Re: First game session!
Third game session last night. A good time was had by all. The PCs are entering the Mouths of Madness underneath Castle Zagyg. A couple of questions came up: 1. Subdual damage. How does this work? The PCs wanted to capture a goblin for questioning, and wanted to knock it unconscious. But how? We de...

Re: Proposed change to non full fledged creature Resilience.....
1) Split Resilience into two passive DPs, one to handle magic and the other non-magic harm. Okay, but we could do this without introducing a third DP...just by allowing Toughness to handle part of that. I think Toughness can handle poison, environmental, etc, since it already encompasses Endurance ...

Re: Proposed change to non full fledged creature Resilience.....
This is worth thinking about. The creatures would have to have slightly more HP to compensate. But I also think that there should be more than the 3 types (fodder, standard, exceptional). Right now, my mind is focused on converting creatures from other sources. And until ERP comes out with a Monste...

Re: Proposed change to non full fledged creature Resilience.....
What if we got rid of resilience for non-full fledged creatures? Instead, make harm spells go directly to HP as other damage does. For other types of spells (Curse, influence, etc), give them opposed roll based on type. What if we got rid of Resilience for ALL creatures, NPCs, and PCs? Non-spell da...

Second session experience....
2nd session: Down one player, who couldn't make it. Allowed the other PCs to roll for his character. Session went pretty smoothly. Realized that I hadn't stressed Scrutiny enough so the 3 PCs having trouble beating base challenge in this. Except of course when I wanted them to fail....The dice be cu...

Re: Difference between a bolt and a stream
I'm not sure of the difference. They seem the same to me. Anyone care to explain? Bolt would be like an arrow(Couple feet in length or so). Stream would be like Ghostbusters proton pack stream... But they both have the same range (MRV x 2). One is just thicker than the other? Is there any differenc...

Re: how many rounds before it get's dull?
In most games combats can drag if too many rounds pass. It may depend on the game, true, especially if the system is really focused on TONS of combat options (like 4E), but I've found no matter the game there is a limit to the number of combat rounds can pass before things start to seem a little mo...

Re: Powergaming: Basic ability vs Specialization
I did this table some time ago, to answer my player's question "how good is my 3d4 ability?". Well, it's not surprising that rolling more dice rather than bigger dice provides better chances for success. Even 2d6 (6 CP) is better than 1d12 (8 CP). But... we have some specialized character...

First session experience....
One of my regular groups started ERP tonight. Def were positive about the freedom in character creation. They made some pretty cool characters. A paladin/ranger type, a paladin/knight type and a mystic warrior w/ a weapon type. Pretty cool range though I would have liked a rogue type. :) Unfortunate...

Re: Podcast interview
My wife (Carrie) was really happy that the reviewer understood the length of the published character sheet has more to do with providing lots of notes space and easy-to-read organization than implying major rules-heaviness. I do like the streamlined one based on her original better, and will be usi...

Hey, I was interviewed by All Games Considered, a neat podcast. Re: First game session!
I am also going to give the players some more spells to use next week, as magic didn't get much use. The spell list are not complete for the pregen characters. Dannumara should have 10 spells at her lvl according to the rules as should Kristianna. So giving more spells would definitely not be out o...

Imagine a character with Arcanum d8 > Mystic study d4 > Pyromancer d4 and Arcanum > Psychogenic d8 > Mentalist d8.
