Re: Our Experiences with DCC #29, adventure Forgotten Sentin
I wanted to give a shout out to Michael Ferguson, the author of The Forgotten Sentinel. This little adventure really played well.

So how do we let Yamo know his post was responded to in a timely manner? He may not be checking in much these days!

Re: Our Experiences with DCC #29, adventure Forgotten Sentin
We had fun, even when I had to take a few breaks to "look up a rule." C&C/AD&D is second nature to me, the DCC-RPG rules are a bit different. This is always "death" to a RPG. The more I have to break the action to look up a rule, the more I wish I was playing another gam...

Over all I think this beta ruleset seems to agree with Nightwing's play style.

I bought one on Thursday. How do I explain buying a box to my wife?Coleston the Cavalier wrote:Well, it isn't DCC RPG box, but it will work. It is what I am going to put my DCC RPG stuff in. Our Experiences with DCC #29, adventure Forgotten Sentinel
My friend, known as Nightwing on the board, and I used the Beta rules to take three characters through the adventure The Forgotten Sentinel from the DCC #29, The Adventure Begins. We had a blast. He has a 5th level thief, converted from a 6th level assassin from Castles & Crusades, a 2nd level w...

Happy Halloween!
Well, we had about 18 trick-or-treaters and it's is now 8:30. The Chiefs are ahead against the Chargers 10-0! We've turned of the porch light, shooing our little ones, a pirate and a princess, to bed. Good night and I hope all had an enjoyable Halloween! P. S. -- For a good fun watch, we recommend T...

Re: Reading Appendix N
I personally recommend Lord Dunsany. His writings have such a mythical feel to them. Of course, Andre Norton's material is also indispensable as well.
So my top suggestions are:
1) anything by Lord Dunsany,
2) the writings of Andre Norton pre-1980.

Re: Why differing experience advancement
Of course many DMs just simplified the whole process by skipping XP and just saying everyone go up a level when it was appropriate for their game. Which almost makes a better system from a dramatic standpoint. There is merit in both approaches to leveling up. I am firmly in the "gain XP" ...

Your sister is right.
Unless you are a bee keeper, it is a rare thing to see anything but female bees. The queen bee is the key to transporting a bee colony.

Maybe Jospeh can be convinced that Goodman Games should also sell the PDF, maybe at a discount for pre-order folks, in which case you could get it in advance of the paper copy. Your way produces more "serious" adventurers, the regular way can be a bit more comedic. This was the intention. I know my friends wouldn't like to play underpowered characters. But I don't want them to play optimized characters. Unfortunately, if your players are really that adverse to n...

My group enjoys experience points. It gives them a measure of where they are at any given point. We all like watching the gauge climb, so-to-speak.
