Re: Seventh session experience....
Seven sessions and counting. Down one player (paladin/ranger could not make it). What level is your average character now? Are they happy with the advancement and their increase in ability? They are all lvl 2 currently. They haven't complained to me about advancement yet. Wow. Sounds like t...

Re: Armor
There's no restrictions on wearing armor. If the player feels his character would wear such armor, and the character has the money or stole it off a dead person, it's his. There is a restriction on heavier armors, like plate cuts the Evade DP (close quarters dodging) in half.

Re: Seventh session experience....
Yep! Summoned creatures bypass RS. ;-) Is there a page number for this? Thanks. No, because I took it as a given based on precedent (admittedly, I assumed it). Now that you mention it, I'll make it official and add it to the revision. Summoned creatures do not affect Resilience with regular physica...

Re: Seventh session experience....
Since it's a type of summoning spell, the creatures often bypass Resilience, unless reducing the effect of poisonous stings. Why is this? Do summoned creatures bypass Resilience? (I must admit that I haven't read the summoning section--I don't generally have many summoner-types in my games). I thin...

Re: Seventh session experience....
Questions arose around the spell Conjure Swarm. Here is the text: "This spell conjures a hoard of large stinging insects. Each insect has Potential-Harm of 1, with no more than a single hit point each, and zero resilience. The creatures’ initiative rank is as one group, equal to the caster’s S...

Re: Seventh session experience....
From page 44 of the core rules: The number of creatures summoned is equal to the result of the ability check, and each creature’s Potential-Harm is 1, with no more than a single hit point each, and zero resilience. Base the Spell Cost for this effect on an Area range, so is equal to MRV of the Abili...

Re: Terror spell
The Terror spell lists "Augment" as its Effect and "Intimidation" as its Aspect. What is Intimidation? How does this spell work? It enhances Coercion, and any use of Coercion where the character is specialized in intimidation specifically. So it summons the likeness of a "b...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
I agree rules bloat is to be avoided. That's what Randy was for...I'd throw out a hundred ideas and he'd shoot down all but one. Game design for us was like two branches of government deciding on a bill... Fact is that spells and rituals can be controlled by the flow of information in the game...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
This discussion is interesting because it brings up a design decision that nearly went unspoken, except in the information within the Conjure Effect (see below, "Qualities of Energies"). That is almost all magic in the assumed Eldritch RPG campaign setting (and thus the game itself) is eit...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
Most spell effects made permanent should remain in the realm of ritual. Most rituals last as long as the casting time (1 round casting time equals one round duration). With permanent effects, that's not going to work. Like ... flesh to stone ... would be a ritual the equivalent of 'incapacitation&qu...

Re: Sixth session experience....
In Runequest, we call the light spell on an arrow a Flare. We used it to light an area. You have to target a surface for the light spell, and since you can't see any thing over there you have to send the light. Thus the habit of flaring an ambush :) (I played/ran Runequest for 20 years :P) The choi...

Re: Random Questions
The initiative system itself is great (pretty simple, yet still takes weapon speed and character action into account). It's when you go and throw that movement per battle phase in that tosses sand in the gears. On page 26, just chop off the rest of the movement section starting with, "The maxi...

Re: New to Eldritch
I had a sit down with my players last night and they seem to like the game (though I admit we haven't finished our read through) enough to give it a playtest. I'm still combing the rules to make sure I'm getting everything and so far, it's not as rough as some made it sound. Though I admit I still ...
