Re: Two House Rules

What about a mercurial use of magic roll every time the spell is relearned?

Re: Patron Pagnyr'Parkus

no more like involuntary burn.

yes, basically giving three rounds of touch attack.

My main concern was that I dont want patrons and deities to suffer from power creep. Anything I jinn up I want to be flavorfull, but not more or less powerful.

Patron Pagnyr'Parkus

Folks, I used the temple encoutner in Kenzer's Little Keep on the Borderlands on my party as a random encounter. Well one of my players decided to make an offering to the Demon when no one was looking and I figured I would write the guy up on the cover of the First Edition PHB as a patron. What do y...

Yeah, I'm with Pesky, one deed die per round. I then FBI redacted my PHB so that it agrees with me.

Re: House Rules We Love

I have been kicking the following idea around HouseRule: Heart of the Warrior. A warrior may rest after combat to regain lost hit points. The warrior must spend 10 minutes of uninterrupted rest after a fight in order for this to be effective and the Warrior must have sustained injury in the current ...

Re: Basic Rules PDF?

My interest in the BETA is that rumor has it the spells are all listed as single one pagers. I like this idea for spell book building.

Re: More "pulp" like armor

Damage absorption for the shield would be a good idea. Also the Shield and Helmet rules in CRAWL! may be a good base line to expand into a limited armor system.

Re: Deed Die rolls

P44: A warrior’s attack modifier is rolled anew, according to the appropriate die, with each attack I think 'each attack' here is intended as 'the set of attacks each round'. Page 42 does a much thorough job of explaining the Might Deeds system, where as this blurb in the table isn't meant to expla...

Re: Using the Beta for Spell Cards

I dig those. Not to get too retro, but a spell book of single one page loose leaf paper would be bad @ss! Retro harn, Monster Manual type. so that a player could literally build a spell book. havign the ability to have the mecurial effects in there would be super cool, but might be to unique for a m...

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters

thats possible. I like to keep things streamlined as much as possible. The players will know if their character can help or not with the skill check. There is also the common sense factor. The fighter with a aid of the halfling was able to dead lift the porculis. The fighter type wanted to hold it u...

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters

perhpas my commentary has been proscribed and I havent been notified yet. Dice chain sounds like a good idea too. Maybe each supporting character with a positive str modifier could add +1D, characters with no mod or a negative one may help, but are to feeble really to make a difference. AS an exampl...

Re: first run of Starless Sea

I ran the adventure and it took two four hour sessions. The first session included group character creation and the second session included a PC on PC alpha dog gang brawl that slowed things down. I do think that this is a great advenure all in all.

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters

If you go by only the modifier than a character could actually hinder you by trying to lift with you. That doesnt really seem like it should work that way. What I did was I set a DC for the feat of strength and then a also annotated what combined STR score would be needed to get an auto success. I l...
