Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

ooc... So, be back track a bit  After you search the area you will come with us and explore the old shed that is up the road a bit....correct? I posted group actions, couple post up from this one, for that time unless you want to mix things up a bit? Let's let DM figure it... OOC: J...

Re: The People of the Pit

ooc: again, apologies. Can lady Aelfwyn avoid the iron rungs by holding them with a cloth, such as a cloak? Or could Bron carry her down? As I'm way late, I'm fine with filing that option away for next time. The Lady elf is there as a party follower and dramatic/RP purposes, not as a character; Arva...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

ooc: big week, but here I am. IC: Elroth takes a note of where the bridge is, and notes the hoof-marks. Hooves setting down and vanishing? I don't suppose it's a pegasus... Did any of the princesses own flying horses? Perhaps something rode towards the bridge, but could not cross running water? The ...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Elroth shrugs. One "nests" down each path, and the third is unknown. You're correct, we need to scout out what the lairs look like. Any trouble, we flee. Seeing the bridge in the river, Elroth and Graham ready their bows, Borok his hammer. They peer to either side of the bridge from where ...

Re: The People of the Pit

Bron draws his sword and heads down first. The hunger for revenge against the monsters that slew so many of their companions before, has made the warrior eager to draw blood. Arvandra takes her time, waited upon by Lady Aelfwyn, waiting until the party has secured the passage before easing herself d...

Re: The People of the Pit

Bron and Arvandra head with the others to the trap door, to check below. ooc: to the trap door! If there are no obvious signs, I'm not OCD enough to smell *that* bad for the entire adventure ;) If we have a marching order, Bron and one other could go first, with Arvandra and Lady Aelfwyn hanging bac...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Elroth wakes from his trance as the others are speaking to the owl, and listens to the entire tale. When the owl offers to fetch him a mouse, he bows and shakes his head, graciously passing on the offer. As the owl leaves he marks a note on his map where the campsite is. Excellent work, and such res...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Borok sets Xim down in the camp, then heads out with Elroth and Graham. The hunter and the elf look for firewood while the dwarf carries it for them. When they get back to the camp, the huntsman and the dwarven blacksmith assist in lighting the fire. A spot of bickering (dwarf insists he's right, hu...

Re: The People of the Pit

Bron and Arvandra nod, and set off down the other path, to see what lies that way. We should be wary, though, of these creatures. While I think they've gone off in the direction the crow flew, I don't doubt some could still haunt these buildings. This farm is closer to the village, and Arvandra said...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Elroth looks around inside. This place is sacred to the elves. If I had a blade to leave here, it would be transformed upon the morning by the servants of the Elfland King. I can only do this once in my lifetime, so I'd prefer a proper sword and suit of good armor. I have neither now, only my shortb...

Re: The People of the Pit

ooc: ...would Arvandra get the sense that the Raven is probably not the King's messenger? If so, she'll see the wisdom of bettering ourselves. She's just very intent on not losing face with the King of Elfland right off the bat. :) Do the footprints leaving the sinkhole eventually head towards the S...

Re: The People of the Pit

Arvandra clucks under her breath. "Do you see that? the carrion bird flies away north-east. I wonder if it leads us towards the followers of the Curwen's patron, or else if it is a messenger of the King of Elfland! I must investigate, in case it is a message from the King himself. I was told I ...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

ooc: sorry, coming! IC: Xim is put on the ground by Borok when the dwarf takes a breather, but the halfling stumbles forward and walks into the entrance to the mound after the others have started to look. Lad, what are ye doing? the dwarf cries after the vagabond, but he knows the mad look in the ho...

Re: The People of the Pit

ooc: sorry, big week. IC: Bron nods at Pratel's suggestion, adding We should scout the surface before coming back here, so there's nothing at our backs. Arvandra turns to the crow in the tree, unsure if it is a messenger from the King of Elfland or an omen of carrion-eaters. Greetings and well-met, ...

Re: Best-looking modules?

Love that book! Aside from solid foundations, it covers composition. Klaus Janson also put out two books in the DC Comics series of how to books, the Pencilling and Inking. *Very* good books, and up there with Marvel's book. That said, the Marvel book is the best for pure nostalgia! :D Leading is go...

Re: Best-looking modules?

Bookmarks: Yes, definitely. I think I'll have each creature with a tag like that. Images: Leading into an image? Like a banner? What about the L-shape on a corner? One thing I'm wondering is how to complete an illustration: borders around the image, or leave it white so it blends in with the page? I...

Bron has a look. Is this the entrance to the levels below? Did you enter this trapdoor, or was it someone or something else?

Best-looking modules?

I'm looking for a list of the top modules in terms of appearance. All-time list, or little details, would be great. I'm finally entering the production phase of my first DCC RPG 3pp module, self-publishing endeavour. While I complete individual illustrations, I've started loading things into InDesig...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Xim escapes the noose! He was once a very nimble fellow, and while the drink has taken its toll, he is now as nimble as a normal person would be... more than sufficient to survive this threat! "Oy! This forest just tried to kill me! What... Borok, what are you trying to do to me?" Borok gr...

Re: Creeping Beauties of the Woods

Elroth shakes his head.

Either path is possible, but the issue is that none can pass through the Grimmswood as they normally can. Doesn't that suggest we take the more used path? That they haunt normal traffic? If we're scouting, it seems we'll be heading down either pathway eventually.

No doubt the altar is to the cannibal demon they served. I agree to searching the buildings above, that's a very wise idea. Be on the lookout for ghosts and spirits of the dead we left behind. As well, expect anything that eats flesh, of course, like those bloated men we fought when we first arrive...
