New update on the blog. Basically things are progressing. But not at a lightning pace.
P.S. I'll also be adding a blog on some of the changes I've implemented recently. One of the reasons for both the lack of updates and the slow progress on the areas that still need work.

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
Dracula went out like a chump -- like "whoops, i tripped and fell on a stake" or "whoops, i inexplicably walked out onto a frozen river that wasn't all the way frozen". Or, "Ooops, I *ahem* forgot [/b] that it's past sunrise and that I'm standing right in front of a curtain...

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
My personal take on the matter of "only hit by": Rather than consider the attack a miss that deals 0 damage, have the attack hit and the weapon deal damage as normal. ...but if it isn't made of the right material it doesn't kill the creature, only incapacitates it until the ridiculously h...

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
Where I've been struggling, though, is along the path of finding an alternative to "only hit by +1 weapons or better". Maybe there isn't one. But I've been trying (mostly in vain) to figure out how I can represent a creature being difficult to defeat without using that kind of sledgehamme...

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
[*] My biggest issue (which thankfully doesn't need to be "resolved" until the second volume of TATG) is with the creatures that require a +1 weapon to hit. They're scary for a reason : they're not easily vanquished. The two Dracula films that Christopher Lee starred in that I've seen ( H...

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
The latter seems to be a very good idea. Start with level 0 peasants, who survive something horrific and become monster hunters. Like the team in Death of a Dark Lord. That's a fantastically concise summary of TATG. That is, in a nutshell, the entire experience. A group of "normal" people...

Re: Some more rules questions
3. If multiple characters try to break down a door together, how do you handle it? Examples, some from Goodman’s modules, would be: - Everyone rolls his own Str-check, ignoring all others. - +2 to the check for each character helping on one rolled check, with a set maximum of characters that can he...

Re: Carcosa
I love Carcosa and plan to utilize it for a short stint in another dimension in my existing campaign. But, part of me wants to try running it with the rules provided. I do think it fits the feel of DCC, for sure, but as you can see I haven't quite figured out yet how I want to present it to my play...

Re: DCC Ravenloft?
I have been wanting to run or play in a Ravenloft campaign for ages. My original idea was to do this in Labyrinth Lord + AEC but I am so enamored with the DCC RPG I am actually considering using it but something just doesn't feel right to me. Do you think DCC can do Ravenloft and how would I conver...

Re: Transylvanian Adventures
Anyone know if this is still being worked on? I see the blog hasn't been updated in nearly 3 months. http://www.landofphantoms.blogspot.com/?m=1 Yup. Still being worked on. I need to get another status update together. I've been too busy going through, editing, rewrites, etc. Some things are in pre...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I had thought about doing Ravenloft with DCC till I found TA. How can I sign up to play test it to lend a hand any way I can? I'll send you a PM. I'm working hard on finishing up what I can. It's about time for a status update. Summary: Things are getting ready for layout. My hope was the book woul...

Re: Stayin' Alive!
As it stands right now, I am tempted to put a death at -10 mechanic into my house rules for DCC. That seems too high, especially at low levels. I'd be inclined to use Negative character level. If you want to be generous, add stamina bonus to the number. Not sure how your players roll abilities. But...

Re: DCC Boxed Set
It would need to be limited to 3 or so levels. Otherwise the Spells book would weigh about 40 pounds. If spells only had to include a sampling of 1st and 2nd (maybe a few 3rd) level spells, I think it would be doable to produce a significantly scaled down introductory product.

Re: Durability and Power: comparing Normal Man vs DCC Charac
I don't know the answer to that yet... it could be alot? I was looking in the good book for what kind of advantages you get if your attacking someone from behind but I haven't found it. If the attacker is a Thief or has a "backstab" ability, then the attacker should be allowed to use that...

Re: Durability and Power: comparing Normal Man vs DCC Charac
dusky vegetable dude, How many grunts can get a whack at the Warrior at a time? I'd say two to four at most, generally. Sure, 8 folks could crowd around one guy, but can they all swing a weapon and hit him -- without also hitting each other? Can they coordinate what they are doing effectively that ...

Re: Stayin' Alive!
I really like the recover the body mechanics. I think that they are great for that pulp-action feel. I find that players still don't like to be knocked to 0, and I find that sometimes the PCs really are dead when their bodies are turned over. That happened just last game day for me, when a characte...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I want to go to there. I should probably qualify the above run-through by pointing out the Reaver only had a Shield for armor. Most Reavers at 3rd Level would've found someone to make them some Leather armor or something. That wouldn't have helped that guy, though. Sample rolls from the men-at-arms...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I was over on this thread . Which seems like a nice thought experiment. I've got no major opinion one way or the other outside of DCC Warriors hitting Hero status at some indeterminate point between 3rd and 5th level with variance based primarily on their ability scores. So I was wondering what a TA...

Yep. Isle of the Unknown is where my group is at right now. Plans for Death Frost Doom and some others soon. I own them all. I'm a fan of his publications as well. I ran a TATG playtest through the Grinding Gear. Good stuff. His writings made me feel like it was okay for me to branch out and go a l...

Re: Multiclassing... would it make godlike characters?
Nah. The Nazgul would have made short work of the eagles prior to the Ring being destroyed, and the Eye of Sauron was watching. I dunno, after all, the Nazgul couldn't even deal with a few lowly hobbits on a long walk... A decent plan and blind, and the Eagle carrying Frodo could've made it, I reck...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
Just a quick thought: Remember how the old "Red Box" Dungeons And Dragons Beginner's Set had a short Solo Adventure? It was a short and sweet Choose Your Own Adventure / Fighting Fantasy style romp through a cave to fight Bargle the Sorcerer. To show you the ropes of how to play an RPG (s...
