Re: DCC RPG and Free RPG Day

Haha "This is Appendix N!" cries Mach spellburns all his Looks score (astronomically high, don't ya know) to fly* off @Mach1.9 into the sunset with a nubile maid under one arm and a print copy in the other ;)

* The spell is named 'An Expeditious Call of the Thunderous Tornado F3'

Re: Designer's Blog #3: What Do You Mean, "Vancian"?

Are we also going to see rituals? As in spells that are more powerful but take longer, need more components and/or more casters? Although maybe these are the sort of things that only NPC cultist types use, so just DM discretion? Aside from that, looks awesome! And I agree with the shield thing, what...

Re: DCC Adventures. Any Hints?

That is great for places like the US and Europe, but there are lot of us in the world no where near an RPG store. And AFAIK there are only about 4 or 5 stores in the entire NZ that stock any RPG books at all. None of the chain books stores do. Just means I have to buy off Amazon. How about Paizo sty...

Is there going to be a Paizo/Pathfinder style print+pdf subscription we can sign up to?

Re: Just houserule it

Thanks and I entirely agree looking up rules takes much longer than looking up pure game facts (such as tables). Maybe there will be less tables than I was picturing, a decent GM (EDIT: Screen LOL Freudian slip) is always a must. Although your 8 paneler looks a little large for my tastes LOL.

Great, that is good. I just checked their web site and couldn't find anything that actually available, it seems easier to order from them through Amazon!

Re: Just houserule it

Really? WOW  I am sure it is, but my ideal would be a single sheet for each monster/encounter/etc and a 3 panel landscape DM screen, plus a 2 page char sheet for each player. And that is all that is all I would like to look during the game 99% of the time. I remember what a pain the crit tabl...

Re: Multi-classing in DCC RPG?

I see what you are saying, and I am happy with rulebooks the size of the Pathfinder Core Book, but Joseph has stated he wants a small book. So MC rules are something that I would count as optional for later if the aim is a small core book.

Re: Just houserule it

I to agree that the less rule book flipping the better (that is something that 4E does very well, everything on the PC sheet or monster stat block). But how do you balance that with all the crit etc tables you are to include in the game Joseph? I am interested in your thoughts.

Re: Multi-classing in DCC RPG?

Having looked through this thread I am on board with the idea of 'alternate class features' ala PfRPG. But, to be honest, I think in the core book you shouldn't bother it should be something for a supplement or 3PP.

Re: Reading Appendix N

Well I read the 1st (?) Conan: The Phoenix on the Sword. It has really whet my appetite for more ... unlike Dying Earth it was pretty fast and furious! A great read with lots of hinted depth.

A whole lot of Conan free at Gutenburg :)

Re: Reading Appendix N

LOL I said it was a challenge but like any good DM I see the rules as guidelines rather than commandments...

But to make it slightly easier I just found I have a copy of "Farewell to Lankhmar" so I'll get my Leiber hit there :D

Re: Blackdirge’s Dungeon Denizens as Monster Manual for DCC

I like more rule books and am not one to complain about rule book bloat. I love reading RPG books, and when DMing have the strength to say no to stuff I don't like. If the quality is good, the more the merrier! My acres of bookshelf space full of unplayed (but still read and enjoyed) RPG books is th...

Re: Reading Appendix N

I lay a challenge for you all: can you give me a top 3 books to give the Appendix N feel. Re: Blackdirge’s Dungeon Denizens as Monster Manual for DCC

Well it lacks many fantasy staples (EDIT: meaning it is not a good MM1), but it does have some cool monsters so I would love to see it converted.
