BTW, that makes Andrzej Stanaszek Strength 19 in AD&D1e/2e terms. For a guy weighing 110 lb. and not much taller than 3'. If that doesn't make someone question some of their assumptions, nothing will.

Re: Atributes for non-human races (?)
I just want to avoid the impossible strength 18 hobbit. A 3' tall person weighing 60-80 pounds could never, under any circumstances, be as strong as the biggest, brawniest man you know. I would point out that it's not obligatory to treat the other races as size- or shape-distorted humans. Our close...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice
On a related note, I'm confused as to how anyone can 'own' a geometric shape (Zocchi). Can anyone 'splain it to me? It's conceptual, really. Even if the shape occurs naturally somewhere (and most do/can), if you're the one to invent/discover it you could copyright it if it's not something all that ...

Re: Upcoming rulebooks?
IIRC, Goodman has stated that they absolutely won't be doing rulebook or splatbook bloat, sticking instead almost entirely to a single DCC Annual each year. They don't want to do the supplement treadmill, leaving that mostly to third parties, but instead will focus nearly all of their efforts on mod...

To be honest they did tend to charge in and lay waste to anything that moved and die and die and die. Sounds like they've got a steep learning curve to conquer and need reminding that 0-level peasants are like victims in horror films: they only survive by virtue of blind luck, cowardice, or cunning...

Re: Surprise
I don't think there is an "Official Answer" per se; it feels like one of those elements Joseph knew everyone had a different take on and so left open to group interpretation. As for my take: I simply rule that the surprising side automatically goes first, and that for the initial round onl...

I myself see merit to both ways... but prefer static initiative because I have always found rolling initiative to break the pace of an encounter, which I find to be a net loss despite the variety gained by dynamic initiative. This is how I view it too. Once at the start, and let's get on with it. :...

If you only want an official answer, your best bet is to PM or e-mail them directly. If you want other folk's to chip in, here's my tuppence: It's a melee attack. Strength modifiers apply to melee attack damage. Nowhere does it intimate that you wouldn't add the Strength modifier to the shield bash ...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice
I've been looking at Kevin Cook's website (he owns the biggest dice collection in the world, officially, as in Guinness World Record) and looking at most of the 3D-printed dice, quality can be highly variable. Luckily, it seems that the simpler the design, the better the 3D printing result, but it's...

Re: The Kickstarter madness has me thinking about dice
I'd go for it. It'd need: d3 (ideally d6 numbered 1-3 twice)* d4 (could be a d8 numbered 1-4 twice)* d5 (ideally d10 numbered 1-10 twice)* d7 (ideally d14 numbered 1-7 twice)* * Using the standard dice shapes for these could potentially be cheaper and would certainly be more random in use. To furth...

Encumbrance Houserules Meanderings
So, one thing I always hated was weight-based encumbrance systems. They required far too much book-keeping given the large numbers involved and utterly failed to take into account something even more important than weight in determining impediment: bulk. Plus, they created massive misconceptions abo...

Re: Links to DCC RPG Resources, updated 5/29
Did the Cleric sheet ever get updated? Not yet. Joseph and Harley are seriously swamped, which isn't surprised given that this is still essentially the launch of DCC as its whole own entity. A complete new rpg, a line of new modules for it, plans for Free RPG Day and conventions, etc. take a lot of...

Looks like somebody is paying attention. Thanks Colin. I'll keep up my end and keep an eye on Mr. Goodman. Really enjoying the little touches in the art of the modules so far. The Death of ol' Ratface in SotSS, including the silhouetted foreshadowing of his replacement. Love the replacement of His Baldness in PotP with the black sorceress from the DCC core rules, including the updated "We're With Th...

Re: Is Aereth the default setting for the DCC RPG?
Only insofar as some of the examples and names used are in the core book. There was talk about producing an all-new DCCified Aereth setting book down the line, so it wouldn't be something as prosaic as a re-release of 35.screenmonkey wrote:Just wondering, and if so, will there be a rerelease of DCC 35?
