I'd paint it like the hound on the cover of the module (not that I could paint a mini if I wanted to, thanks to my Essential Tremor).

Re: Disappointed with the FLGS in regards to DCC RPG.
I've never understood a store's offer to order something in for me. I can order things myself . I'm buying convenience from you, not product. I also hate when they say this. That doesn't make it any less true though. The fact is, in the day and age where online retailing of everything, not j...

I believe the "Between Adventures" tables will be appearing in the Judge's Book (Vol. 2). What is the "Judge's Book"? If it's not we need some for DCC RPG. smathis is plugging TA/TG (Transylvanian Adventures/Transylvanian Grimoire) and the Judge's book is a volume in that. Colin

Re: Varying the types of treasures, beyond just gold
I can't believe some folks are worried that results might seem unfair/railroading; I thought we were playing Dungeon Crawl Classics, not Fairy Snookums: The Huggy-Kissy RPG? ;) More seriously, if a Player decided their character was going to remain sober and not particularly Appendix N in style (boo...

If you're referring to the famous 8-pointed star of Chaos (actually eight outwards-radiating arrows), it's not real, it's an invention of Michael Moorcock: Symbol of Chaos . It was, of course, appropriated by Games Workshop for their Warhammer games, and has long since spun out into other pop cultur...

Init: Yes, it's the modifier. SV: Yes, it's the modifier. SP: "Special" e.g. powers, abilities, etc. "Slam" and other words are just descriptors, not rules. MV (Move) is their speed, yes. Probably easier to abbreviate it MV than SP or SPD (which could cause confusion with SP: Spe...

Re: Varying the types of treasures, beyond just gold
Appendix N Revelry Rules for the DCC RPG Appendix N characters seldom start any adventure particularly better off than they were before, and frequently squander their hard-won money and treasure on temporary pleasures. When a DCC character finishes an adventure and returns to whatever passes for ci...

I have an urge to create a terrible creature called a SCAVOK now. See, it even sounds like a decent monstrous name.

I'd allow a javelin as a Light weapon (1d6 damage the same as a short sword).

Re: Need help developing a wood elf ability
Colin, I generally like this line of thinking. My only issue is that I want the wood elf's ability with the bow to be better than what a warrior could achieve with a bow using MDoA. That's something I'd be very wary about, personally. A Warrior already rocks the casbah combat-wise, so cranking that...

Re: Two Weapon Fighting
Also, what's got the most Appendix N style? (The latter question has me leaning away from dual wielding, frankly, and towards a two-handed sword.) Dual-wielding is very much part of Appendix N. Just look at Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar work for one example (both Fafhrd and Gray Mouser routinely dual-wie...

Re: Need help developing a wood elf ability
I'm generally not in favour of giving MDoA to other classes either; however, given that the Dwarf has them, I wouldn't strenuously object if a single elf class used a highly restricted version of them in my games. So, for ease of creation, give them a restricted armour and weapon listing: Armour no ...

Re: Question about Automatic Critical via Spellburn
Yeah, this worry about spellburn comes up all the time. Folks worried about wizards "getting away" with spellburn should read THIS THREAD . Also, as others have noted: the "adventure" may be finished, but the characters' lives still continue, and a heavily burnt-out wizbang can b...

Re: How could Cronan kill the Grue yet be killed by a blob?
I did think it was funny that all of the DCC modules thus far have generated questions about some confusion about the map. And yet, the forum is strangely silent about this mess of worms! :D Start a thread about it then; if no one is talking about something you think they should be talking about, t...

Re: Wizards who never cast spells
This thread proves that the "funnel" is just one of those wacky OSR ideas that has the potential for Epic Fail in actual game play. That all depends what you mean by "Epic Fail" (whether you mean the concept itself is a failure, or that PCs can fail tragically, and that this is ...

Re: NPCs and class abilities question
Yep, "Do what thou wilt." is the approach you need to take, though yeah, if you look at the big selection of NPCs on pages 432-434, you'll see examples of how NPCs wizards et al. are statted up, and you'd note: As noted previously, “monsters break the rules”—and that applies to men as well...
