Re: Warrior titles.
I like level titles and I always have. Please keep them in. This is one of those things that _does_ add flavor imo. And the idea that we are going to take them out to open up space for third party publishers to create 15 or more different fighter type classes drawn from each level title (yes that's...

Re: Personality Skills
Create a 3rd party supplement if you want these things.
I don't want a bunch of skills complicating my game. Yes I know I can take things out if I want but in my opinion it's always easier to add rules to a system than it is to remove them. Simple core rules, that's all I want!!!!

Yeah please give this the attention it deserves and make it special, fun and unique. I'd rather pay extra for this as a supplement later.

Re: Percentage Thief Skills
Agreed. I never liked the percentage system for thief skills even way back when.
The whole thing is just awkward in this book. Seems entirely out of place and doesn't flow with the rest of the system.

Re: Monsters
Please no monster stat blocks. Things like that, bit by bit, number by number, make everything so dry and robotic. The mechanics of the game start to become transparent, the numbers and rules bloated, and the mystique and magic of the game is slowly sucked away. If you really need to know the streng...

Re: Warriors and MDoA's
I'd much rather risk arguements than have something so dry and limiting though. If you go this route you completely remove the magic and mystique from the MDoA. The last thing we need is another rules-bloated D20-type system where everything has been systemized and nothing is left to the imagination.

Then pick another spell - a non-blaster one, that disables or restrains the enemy so the rest of the party get to do the damage for a change, or maybe he buffs up the party rather than being a one-man-army, or changes the environment to their advantage. Oh I agree with you. I was just responding to...

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
Scorching Ray is a perfect example of a spell that I would be tempted to reduce the number of potential outcomes. You could speed the game slightly and significantly reduce the size of the charts if you combined some of those (ie. remove 16-19, remove 26-29, remove 32-33). Ex. 1-13 - Lost 14-19 - Ta...

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
It will be interesting to hear what people think about this. I know I've said it before, but I'm a fan of the "spellbook" model: showing up with my wizard character sheet and my sheaf of 7 spells that I jealously guard. (And of course, my PC has renamed all the spells to hide them from th...

Re: Warriors and MDoA's
I'm not sure this is as big an issue as people are thinking it will be. 1. If it works how I imagine, could you not simply add a negative modifier to hit for difficult stunts? So if the warrior wants to leap on to the dragon's neck, pull out his spear and pierce up through it's lower jaw and out thr...

Re: When will the dice sets be available?
I found if I roll the d5 on a table everything is fine. It seems to bounce and flip around quite well and after recording a fairly large number of rolls it did appear "random". Same with the d7. However if I roll the d5 in my wooden dice tray (with a felt bottom) it seems to "stick&qu...

Re: Why Levels?
I don't know why exactly levels work so well but they do, it's been my experience with every group I have played with. Sure there are times we try other games without levels and rave how great they are, but it never lasts. We always come crawling back to D&D and it's level-based system. If I had...

Re: Warriors and MDoA's
I love the MDoA idea, though it seems like it needs tweaking still. What I am curious about is how the other classes get to pull off stunts though. I tend to agree it should be a warrior thing but the other classes should have a way to do it (I guess you can always let the DM decide on the fly, like...

Re: Why Levels?
I would guess is that DCC is meant to be a new version of D&D heavily based on Appendix N, not simply an RPG based on Appendix N.
Personally I am glad it uses levels. I have simply never enjoyed games without levels near as much.

I can't wait to get the pdf in my hands. I can't attend Free RPG day but I intend to run my buddies through a few adventures at GenCon.

Re: Death & Dying in DCC RPG
I need to consider this all further but I have to say I really like this idea. The problem is I am not sure I want it in this game, or at least, I would include it as an optional or house rule variant.
The original post really inspired me though.

I will be going to Gen Con and have never been to a convention before so I don't exactly know how they work... Re: Warrior mechanics
1. Two weapon attacks... if we use an earlier posting... d16 and d14 instead of d20's. 2. The MDoA to bull rush (i.e. move his back) would be allowed. The MDoA of a stun would be disallowed. Stun would be a critical/extra damage sort of effect and would fall outside of what I understand the scope o...

Re: Warrior mechanics
Good points and thanks for the response. One thing I should have been clearer on though was that I intended the shield-bash as an attempt to stun/rattle or knockback the opponent, and perhaps add a tiny bit of damage but that's not the goal. If the player is just attempting to damage it's fairly str...

Re: Warrior mechanics
The warrior mechanics had me worried me about this game but this thread has me convinced this will be my "new D&D" game. I just ordered a set of Zocchi dice after reading this. Definitely buying this game. I am a bit confused though about what happens when you want to do something that...

Re: Zocchi Dice - Seek out our own or for sale here?
Agreed that some of these (the lower ones) are unnecessary but I will likely try them anyway. Wish they could improve the d7 more than anything. I thought about finding dice that had the numbers doubled up (ie. 1-3 printed twice on a d6) but realized the advantage to the oddly shaped dice is the eas...
