Re: CRAWL! fanzine
I got mine a week ago and it's a great first start. I hope future editions will have even more content, especially rule variations, patrons, spells and other inspirational ideas. Would definitely buy again.

Re: Killing the Cleric (and a few others)
Please keep us updated as you progress with this as I am planning something similar. I am considering removing the cleric as written and using the patron spells to simulate cultists. I want it left unclear if the gods even truly exist. Sure, supernatural patrons may offer you magical powers but are ...

Re: Higher Level PC Generator for DCC?
Both random and input options would be nice. Random for quick wacky generation of an npc, input for thematic NPCs or for quick PCs.tovokas wrote: Wizards accumulating spells (random would be simple, but I'm guessing players would want some input?)

Re: Ability modifiers
I'd say the Luck mod definitely changes. The only thing that stays the same is the Birth Augur. It's fiddly, but so are all the Ability changes. It has to be this. That second bullet point on p.19 should be re-worded though as it's definitely confusing. However everything else in the book and in th...

Fingers crossed? I think it is a foregone conclusion now.
Once you add some stretch goals and give us some sneak peeks of the classes and such you should blow by it.

Awesome!
Definitely have to do something with this pig too. If it's not a polymorphed human at least let it "level" up in to a loyal war pig.

As a Canadian do I need the international shipping option?
This is definitely interesting. Hopefully we get a sneak peek soon of the text (and classes) and not just the art.

reverenddak: Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I was responding to TheNobleDrake who seemed to be implying that he wouldn't let thieves attempt "deeds". Maybe that's not what he intended to imply but I was simply suggesting I would never stop such a thing just because a player wasn't a warrior. ...

Re: Mighty Deeds Of Arms and other classes
My favourite character ever was a thief-acrobat in 2nd edition. I must have drove the GM nuts with all my crazy stunts, swinging from chandeliers, attempting flying leaps and tumbles and what-not. I would hate to tell a character he can't leap off a balcony and try to land a knock-out blow on the or...

Re: Mighty Deeds Of Arms and other classes
This actually came up recently for me. I didn't want to nerf creative thinking, but I didn't want the odds to be better than a 1st level Warrior's 1 in 3. So I chose 1 in 10 chance of succeeding if you hit for 0-lvl characters, 1 in 6 otherwise. Depending upon how that works, I might decrease the c...

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?
The whole point, to me at least, is to make sure that a player cannot ever be certain how long (or even how at all) he will recover from his spellburn - otherwise the mystery and danger go right out of the whole thing. Thank you. This is the angle I needed! Maybe I will create a spellburn table for...

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?
My thinking is that a wizard would rarely, if ever, submit themselves to negative penalties unless the fate of the world, or whatever, really is at stake. And, if they did, it would probably be against some big-bad guy and it would be towards the end of a major adventure or epic campaign. A wizard ...

Re: Limits to Spell Burn?
The thing is you don't need to be gibbering mess to do this. If you are even "normal" and have strength of 10, agility of 11 and stamina of 11, you could burn down to a score of 4 in each for a total of +20 to your roll. Maybe get a halfling to add another +2 and you are +22 to your roll. ...

Limits to Spell Burn?
I quickly looked through the book today and I still see a potential problem that was not addressed in the beta: What is stopping a wizard from spell burning all their available ability points between adventures to cast spells like Patron Bond or Find Familiar? I see no reason (other than fear the DM...

Re: Classic Modules
All of those are level 1+ by the way. I haven't actually played one of them (just the start of Stonehell) but I own all of them and they all look good. Dwimmermount will also work but it won't be ready for a bit I imagine. I have seen the first two levels though and I think it's going to be very, ve...

Re: Some Playtest/Houserule Ideas: DWARVES and Spells/Halfli
I'm not a fan of the dwarves as written either and think your changes are closer to how I see them as well. I can't say I like spellburning at all but at least your rule helps address one of the beefs I have with it. I would be tempted to be even tougher. The halfling change is something I had consi...

Re: Class & Racial Class
The players need to look at it not as though they are making a Dwarf Warrior, a Halfling Warrior or an Elf Wizard. That's what I tell my players. Eventually they can choose other classes for those races but right now those are the only choices. Oh and the demi-human versions of those classes are dif...

This http://muleabides.wordpress.com/2010/04/04/theres-experience-in-them-thar-hills/ sums up why I like gold as xp better than I ever could. I also prefer variable experience requirements for the classes. Honestly it doesn't have a big impact on the game due to the way xp scales, maybe for one sess...
