Re: Three Things I Don't Love About DCC

2. Alignment. I will eliminate alignment in my game. But all gods/patrons will have allies and enemies... I've essentially eliminated alignment -- The only game mechanic it affects is clerical healing (and "protection from" spells). I fixed this by having a detailed pantheon of gods (with...

Re: Spoilers:Sailors on the Starless Sea...anyone played it

We got about 3/4 of the way through it on Sunday -- most of the party was 1st level with one new player joining with 4 0-levels. (Sorry...quoted myself). We finally finished Sailors -- I had two players that jumped in to play two existing characters (2 other players couldn't make it). The ending wa...

Re: outside the box

I've dreamed of a conversion of Darklands for a while. Great video game set in medieval Germany. Very sandbox and innovative in the RPG realm. High points are: Alchemist class (and a detailed alchemy system), Clerics that are similar to DCC wizards (saints are their "patrons"), great, what...

His other book -- Shardik -- is firmly in the Appendix N school. Very dark, with a demonic bear worshipped as a god, etc.

The "mirror" was a great representation of a Patron. The wizard gets lots of power, but is essentially trapped in a very destructive relationship...:) I really liked the movie and didn't really mind Kristen Stewart too much. The dwarves were a high point, though they faded into the backgro...

Re: My Cobbled Together Setting Map and Stuff.

Figured I'd pinch it. This is pretty much my approach to all rpg development -- at least for home games. Why not use what's there -- especially if, like me, you have several shelves groaning under the weight of RPG supplements that you're probably never going to use completely. And an entire Intern...

My take on drow... probably a little over complicated. Drokalv (normal): Init: +2; AC 17, MV 30, HD 1d8+1, Atk melee +1 (stone short swords 1d6+1) ranged +2 (small bows 1d4+poison); Act 1d20; SP: poison, spells, immune to sleep and charm, meld into rock; SV Fort +1, Ref +3, Will +2; AL C. Re: will there be a Book of Patrons?

Wow this is good news and thanks for the example! Thank you! Of all the DCC Products this one is the one I am most anticipating. Modules and world books are nice but I almost never use them and I have literal stacks of old Judges Guild, TSR and OSR products that are still unread. I buy them in the ...

Re: will there be a Book of Patrons?

Now this is a book I will definitely buy. Adding more patrons (and spells/classes for that matter) are the things I am most interested in at this point. Some things I would like to see: 1. The majority of gods should be Swords and Sorcery types but have some quirky ones as well, along the lines of ...

as a long-time Call of Cthulhu player I can't recall direct invocation of Great Old Ones or Outer Gods EVER being beneficial in any kind of way to any investigator... A really good point. Usually one tries to avoid contact with the Old Ones. And actually in Conan fiction, this is typically th...

Re: An odd idea for a T1: Village of Homlett conversion

Other than farmer, I actually made a list that only uses each occupation that gets used once, which I think is pretty satisfactory. Well, darnit...that sounds fun. I wish I could jump into a campaign like this. I'm stuck running adventures for my group... :) Quick Question -- are you running Temple...

Re: An odd idea for a T1: Village of Homlett conversion

Suggestions on how to logically narrow down things to 40-50 would be appreciated, if anyone has some. Are you narrowing it down because of the time involved to generate 100+ characters? Why not just use the Purple Sorcerer's random generator and mix and match? Or... a farmer is a farmer is a farmer...

Re: An odd idea for a T1: Village of Homlett conversion

I plan on running a campaign consisting of T1-4: Temple of Elemental Evil, A1-4: Scourge of the Slavelords, and GDQ1-7: Queen of Spiders (15 AD&D modules in 3 "super modules" that attach to each other) - for my own strange reasons, I have decided not to simply run them with AD&D a...

Patron Generator

I needed a generator to come up with a patron on the fly. Still in the early stages, but I generally like the Wilderlands method of Temple generation (of which the deity is a subset of this). I don't think this tool would be able to generate every detail, but should definitely give some boundaries a...

I had a need for hirelings that weren't 0-levels and weren't PC classes. So, I borrowed the d20 concept. Meet the armsman, acolyte and thug.

Re: Combining Sailors and Pit

The river that provides an exit after the Chaos Lord in defeated in SotSS could enter the area in which PotP is set easily enough, and the Chaos Leviathan of SotSS will certainly come to mind as the players investigate the Pit. Here's what I would do: (3) PCs find a village near the ravine's edge. ...

This is a start to the conversion of Treasure Hunt that I'm using for my weekly game at work. Not much pushed to the site so far -- I'm doing it about half sandbox style, so there are new "discoveries" every week... Just the campaign map and the background pushed to the site for now. Enjoy...

I would just have the magic items show up later, just lying by the side of the road as the players pass by. Muahahahaha... The player that lost the character was really depressed.
