Re: Another alignment question.
The question is, how do you reconcile this psuedo-untied two way "us vs. them" cosmology with a variety of separate, at least semi-cohesive pantheons each of which span across the alignments and appear to be more motivated by loyalty to each other than loyalty to some side in the eternal ...

Re: "Fifth Edition Fantasy" feedback
I think they are pretty mediocre. I'm far more satisfied with the current DCC modules, and they are pretty easy to convert to 5e thankfully. Well, I think I'd use the term "traditional" rather than mediocre, but I agree that they aren't as innovative and vibrant as the newer DCC ones. Sti...

Okay, so I'm failing with the word things sense making this on. This line throws me. Sounds like advice from Yoda. But for the record, I'm not suggesting instant gratification. I'm not suggesting a Toyota system ("You ask for it, you got it"). I'm not suggesting there be no trade-of...

Re: Multiclassing in Lankhmar
I prefer a multiclass option to an "anyone can do it" approach. That's one of the things that I like best about D&D-style (class based) games as opposed to BRP or RuneQuest (skill basked) games. I haven't tried multiclassing in DCC becaise characters tend to be low level already and so...

Re: S&W Monstrosities and ToH conversion.
Hmmm.....Then let me rephrase the question. Since both S&W and DCC are part of the OSR, would it be close to the original intent of whatever encounter we're dealing with to just use S&W monsters straight with DCC characters, or is there something I need to be aware of? I realize that balanc...

"Fifth Edition Fantasy" feedback
I've finally had a chance to run the first two "Fifth Edition Fantasy" modules and have joined the kickstart for the next two, and I thought I'd post some thoughts about this Goodman Games product line. I think that Goodman Games has hit on the right formula here: Modules of short size wit...

Re: How long has it been since the radiation cloud?
I think that the 4E rulebook has a pretty extensive timeline for that version of the Warden. I'll have to look at it to see what they have to say.

Very cool. I had this general sense of mechs battlin' other mechs but not any clue about the campaign background. Must look for a copy of this.

Re: Dragonmech and 5th Edition D&D
I haven't played Dragonmech so I don't have much to contribute of value here, but I just wanted to say that reading over this thread has gotten me interested in the game and I'll have to search a little more to find out about it. I play and run a lot of 5E, so the crossover in systems is what attrac...

Re: Looking for d8 dice numbered 1-4 twice
I picked up some 12 siders numbered 1-4 thrice (w/ Roman numerals) at GenCon a few years back, they’ve become my “d4” of choice. Google seems to suggest that they’re readily available from multiple sources, if you're not fully content w/ the 8 siders you ordered. That's so cool! I love d12's more t...

Re: Looking for d8 dice numbered 1-4 twice
Did a google search and found a source for the dice I wanted at DICE & GAMES LIMITED in England. There were no color choices to pick from, but the picture looked like white with black numbers.
I ordered a few and will report back as to quality, etc, when they arrive.

Re: New Judge for Free RPG Day, need advice
Glad to offer assistance. Remember that there are a couple of key goals in a one-shot store session: (1) Make sure folks have fun (2) Give folks a look at the way the game plays so they can see how this game differs from others they might have played (3) Try to finish the session at an "end&quo...

Re: New Judge for Free RPG Day, need advice
Welcome to the boards and good luck in advance with running DCC in public. I was in your exact position a few years ago, where I had run lots of home games but never a convention game. Then I was asked to demo "that new DCC RPG" for Free RPG day. I think that a lot of my answer would be ba...

Re: B/X style skill/ability checks and saving throws in DCC.
I think that your ideas are solid enough, and clearly they have worked for B/X D&D for a couple of decades so they are mechanically sound. Also, since B/X and DCC all derive from the same rules set (OD&D) there should be a lot of rules overlap where features from one rules set work well with...

Looking for d8 dice numbered 1-4 twice
Pretty much what the subject says. I'm tired of rolling those pesky pyramid-shaped d4's and am not much of a fan of those pill-shaped ones, either. I should probably wade through the "funky dice" thread, but I was hoping that someone could point me to a place where I can buy some 8-sided d...

Re: What to read next?
Soooo... One and a half year after I started this thread, I finally got my head out of my ass, and actually bought the complete Lankhmar series :) So far I've only read The Snow Women which I think is a good introduction to Fafhrd. Glad you got that head out of your ass. A year and a half is a long...

Re: module compability
Even someone with a copy just telling me more about it. I'm not picky. 8) I have it. It's approx 15 pages long, not including cover, full page art, or map. Thanks for the detailed info. 8) The geomorphic map is a clever idea, but since it's Goodman Games I start to expect that on a regular basis. L...

No prob. Sorry if I sounded like a jerk. It occurred to me after I posted that it might have come off as being a little snarky. Not my intent at all.
Oh, and I see that the print version of the Ningauble module is listed as for sale on the GG webpage.

Re: Official Campaign?
Lankhmar (or more properly the world of Nehwon) has a lot of potential to be an "official" world since there is so much source material out there. Several volumes of fiction, source materials for AD&D and Runequest, and soon to be source materials for both Savage Worlds and DCC RPG. Th...

Re: Newb Question - Unintelligent Monsters
GB is wise. I like to mix up whether monsters do "intelligent" things based on situation, which is easier to do in DCC since we tend to have unique monsters instead of boring retreads. For generic monsters found in games like D&D the players might know in advance how intelligent an orc...

Re: "Fixing" DCC RPG
Oh don't take my obnoxious bluster as real. When I run a game I try not to look up rules during the session unless it becomes critical that I do so, so what you term a "blunder" is what I would just call "winging it." It's all good. If you like your version better, stick w...
