I'd use the Deities and Demigods stats for him. I think he had a STR and CON of 6 without Stormbringer.

Amen to that. High-level 3.x combat is so danged slow, but I tend to be the only one in my playing group who thinks this.TheNobleDrake wrote: it only takes one session of DCC to get through 4 to 5 times as many encounters as my group used to get through in a 3.5 session of the same length.

Re: A question about XP
Has anyone had much experience with how quickly, like how many adventures it takes to level up in DCC? I know the funnel is after one adventure, I mean after this. I thought advancement in 3.x was too fast, for example.

Wow. Nice write-up. I might have adjusted the tile guardian's damage or HP since it is meant for a level 2 party. But this is DCC and there are no EL so woah to the party members.

The Art of DCC RPG + Erol Otus
In general I've been very pleased with the DCC RPG art, especially the rulebook. I've been picking up modules, I now have Sailors, Doom of the Savage Kings, and Emerald Enchanter. All are really good adventures with great feel and art. I especially like Doug K and Peter Mullen's art. Mullen's art I ...

Re: How do you define min/max?
My point was as gnomeboy said, theses MMORPG conventions are becoming more and more of a straightjacket... in my group anyway. I want my character to be as I envision my character, not as a mere party role to fill and for which I have to choose all abilities and skills.

Re: How do you define min/max?
I like the DCCRPG concept that you don't get to pick your background. Not true. Note that a character’s occupation need not be determined randomly. If a player has a strong sense of the character’s background, he should feel free to use it. Starting trained weapon and trade goods can be determined ...

Re: How do you define min/max?
It seems like min/maxing should be included on a list of cardinal sins for the RPG'er. With words, like sad, insecure, manipulative and so forth being used to describe rolling a character I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling about "min/maxing", it almost feels overly pedantic and ...

Re: How about some alternate classes
I think dmcolby's Ranger is just to OP. If it has a deeds die, it should be scaled back quite a bit from the Warrior's progression, and the crit tables should match a fighter only to favored enemy. If I was creating the class the only favored enemy bonus would be a good crit table. Perhaps even bett...

I didn't know Phoenix was littered with such stores! I have relatives out there. Of course when I go to AZ I like to be in the desert/mountains looking for pottery shards and points. (I learned recently that you're not supposed to pick them up). I love AZ.

Re: How do you define min/max?
I also hate the creeping in of MMORPG things like all party players having to fill a specific role, be it "tank", "dps","healer", etc. I am the only person in my group who doesn't play online games but everyone is always trying to shove the characters into one of these ...

Re: How do you define min/max?
Good thoughts everyone. I'll chime in. I'm not up on every game term but min/maxing to me is choosing ability scores/ weapons/feats/classes... to get the biggest numerical bonuses and numbers out. To judge myself... Yes I do it. To a point. I'll admit to choosing ability scores in 3ed like several o...

Re: Crawl! New Class Challenge! The Finals!
Is the idea to create classes that are balanced in regard to other classes? I would not like any class that makes a player not want to play other classes (like Warrior).
Warrior should always be the best at combat. Maybe a Ranger should equal a warrior in the wilds, but nowhere else. IMO.
